Various videos suggest its 'just a push clip at the bottom' but after much pushing pulling and swearing I cant move it. Not sure if I have the right clip as the videos are poor quality (don't want to break anything either)
Has anyone done this recently please? All I can see is a curved plastic tag sort of thing at the bottom centre of the unit, this is where I have been focusing my attention!
Most grateful for any tips!
Sorted. Yes it is a curved black projection in the centre of the lower edge of the unit. I held it down with a screwdriver and the unit pulled out from the bottom. TIP. it may be better to remoth some of the connector plugs before doing this as they are easier to pull whilst the unit is in place. Dont forget to pull out the main power plug first ( small brown lower left hand side) There are two little plugs up at top left which may be better done once you have freed the unit.
I removed the unit and checked all the plugs and sockets for corrosion/damp, they were fine I removed the cover and inspected both sides of the PCB, there were no signs of corrosion, solder breaks or burnt spots. I returned the board and all the sockets. Presto every thing worked, tacho, lamps gauges, everything but, alas, only for a few seconds. I assume that the BCM board is fine and that there is a dodgy connection, I will try to locate which socket serves the instrument cluster and check it out.
