P0546

Postby rsjon » Fri Jun 15, 2018 10:09 pm

2013 2.2RWD with P0546 EGR Temp sensor circuit high.
Is this referring to the temp sensor before the cat that has wiring issues or a temp sensor on the EGR that I haven't dealt with before?
Thanks,
Jon.

I have worked this out and will share it now:
P0546 refers to pre cat Lambda sensor in the exhaust.
I checked all the wiring and connectors carefully but in my case it was an open circuit sensor (green sleeve) causing the problem.
Both sensors are supplied with 5 volts so check this first, then check resistance of sensors whilst very gently warming them with a blow torch...obviously removed and in a vice.
Resistance should be several Mega Ohm when cold, gradually dropping in resistance to at least several Kilo ohm when hot.
Hope this helps somebody!
Replacement tomorrow and happy days!
Jon.

On the E5 type 2011 to 2014.
The 2012 does not have a lambda temp sensor fitted before the catalytic unit.
There are two temp' sensors on the DPF. Which is after the catalytic unit.
On the DPF there are two, a blue sleeved and a green sleeved wire. One in front and one on or behind the filter.
It is the front temp' sensor that indicates if the regeneration temp (of exhaust) is high enough for regeneration to occur.

ORiley DPF youtube - lots of vids re' DPF.
