Some of the cheapo stuff could have the wrong internal circlips with them and won't be greased.

Better to check which make of prop shaft is fitted.

Might get a result with the VIN in Autodoc or Catcar.

The stealership wanted £1000 for a complete propshaft that was about 15 yrs ago for a 2000 model. They would not repair it.

Have a look at the prop, joint caps are usually peened into place so can’t be disassembled.
You’ll have to find a propshaft specialist who will machine a groove into the yoke that takes a circlip so the joints can be replaced, and then balance it as nescessary.

That depends if you have anyone capable of repairing yours locally and how much ?
I’d imagine 2nd hand will be cheaper but be careful, obviously there are many differences in propshaft over the years and variants of transits.

Are you sure yours needs joints, because to be honest I don’t think I’ve seen one fail since mk6’s.

Definitely worth checking to see if there's a propshaft specialist in your area. They can be very cost effective and then you know it's right too. A couple of years ago I needed work done on the prop shaft of my 60-year old classic car. No chance of spare parts at all. Local specialist practically made a new one for me for just over £100

Many years ago in a land far far away, you could purchase "staked joint" repair kits. These contained the joint and alignment/staking cups to rebuild the joint.
We rebuilt a few, some successful, others not so.

I have no doubt someone will be along claiming they can get shaft for £2.50.......

The goto place for recon props was "RecoProp", but alas they appear to be long gone :(

Whilst bored I came across this in another (welding) forum:

"easy peasy to repair.......cut the cross out, drive the cup bearing inwards to remove......if u can use a rotary flap wheel to remove most of the swagging marks, obviously dont make the bore any bigger.....I usually start with a fine 1/2 round file....
ONLY TAKING THE LIP OUT.....I'm lucky enough to have an adjustable reamer but really not necc. JUST TAKE UR TIME......it's not a race.......
anyway once cleaned and smooth push the new joint in in the normal way,,,,, GET IT CENTRAL then take a thick washer 3mm etc drop it in the hole......(I usually turn me own to suit)....
so 3 good blobs with a stick welder / MIG on the edge will fix the joint......easy to clean off and redo the joint in later years......
I have done 100's and never had a failure."
