Mk6 Lost primary key, secondary inside van

Postby juventusventus » Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:29 pm

Hi all,

Well, it happened! :( I lost my primary key + FOB I have a spare key that I kept hidden in the van during my travels with my kids (I'm the only adult) in case we loose the key while hiking. Never bothered to take it back out now that we are back.

In any case, now I'm locked out.

It's a Ford Transit Mk6 Euroline 2003 2.0 tdci with central locking.

Is there a way to get in without breaking my side door window?

Please note that when I lock my car with the FOB while we're sleeping inside, we sometimes cant open it from the inside! So the good old pry the door and use a rod to latch the inside dorr handle might not work...

Any other method of getting in?

P.S. If a method is too sensitive for the forum, please PM me.

P.P.S. You can check my post history in order to reassure yourselves that I actually do own a Tranny :) (and proud of it - I hit 400,000km the other day :) :) :) )

You don't have to break the little 1/4 window....just pop the glass out of the rubber....pretty simple really.

Whilst that is quite true m'lud, if the van is deadlocked, you still can't open the door from the inside, unless you can reach the spare key from the window :(

So, any other alternatives for a dedlocked van? I heard something to do with side mirrors but it wasn't clear/confirmed and i'm afraid to repeat what I heard on a public forum. But if you have a tip, not sharable via the discussion forum, please send me a PM.

The only help i can give you, is to tell you, a wiring, break or short .. will be probably in the conduit between the "A "pallor and the door, this is where the wires get continuously flexed.

and some of your pins look a bit oxidised
search ebay for - electrical contact cleaner

all the best.mark

I can't help, it's a long time since I owned a Mk6, and I never lost my keys :)

My only advice is to see if any neighbours have a Tibbe key that you could try and wiggle in the lock, or if you're a member of the AA, RAC, or similar who might have a lost key service. After that, it's a locksmith job :!:

Does your van still have a fully working bonnet lock,so having lost keys you cannot access / open the bonnet either ?

Unfortunately no access to under the hood.

do you know which wire on the passengers or drivers side door connectors can I feed a 12v+ to have the window roll down?

Can’t do that I’d have thought, window switches are on the door itself so it won’t be wired that way.
I’ll PM you later with another option.
