injector leak from inlet

Postby PiddsblackVH » Sun Mar 22, 2026 11:10 am

Howdy folks,

been trying to fix an issue with my old MK6 that I'm wary could get worse quickly...

I'd noticed a bit of diesel pooling on top of the injector seals, found various info on what I should do online so bought an injector seals kit.
as I don't want to pull the injector out itself (I don't have the speacialty tool, but also feel like that could be opening a can of worms I'm just not qualified to deal with).
changed the injector seals, the rocker gasget and the leak off pipe.
have everything a really good clean up and then found that there is definitely a leak coming from rear two injectors. I'm fairly sure its coming from the high pressure inlet - but these don't have seals right? it's just a replacement of the whole pipes and/or the injectors?
did ask a mechanic who did a service recently, but of course he wasn't too willing to say too much, and I assume thats because he'd rather be paid to fix the issue than tell me so I can fix it myself.

both of these items are on the expensive side so keen to hear some thoughts before I invest in that kind of problem solving.

I've also noticed blue smoke when I accelerate, and feel like maybe this is connect to the above issue somehow. had noticed this a little in the past but it seems to have got worse since a recent major service. don't see anything during the day but at night it's obvious in lights of cars behind me as I accelerate.

anyways, give me your best theories, and I'll go for a tinker.

The high pressure pipes to each injector from the pump should be looked at...there can be in excess of 1600bar (23,200psi) in them during running. Any leaks should be sorted asap.

Look for corrosion and/or damage on and under the nuts and flare fittings.
