ABS pump whine since cold weather

Evening all, have owned the 2.4tdci about 4 months now and put a few thousand miles on it, runs great, however the cold weather is causing a few issues, its a lot noisier when cold, until warmed up then its nice and quiet, i assume this is normal but is there anything i can do to help this? 5w30 oil was changed 3k ago - A5/B5 Ford spec -

Main issue im having is the ABS pump ( i assume its the pump ) as it only happens when i press the brake pedal, since the last few days where temps have dropped to zero, it whining when i press it, sounds like someone beeping their horn in the distance, a low pitched whine - Last trip it went away once everyhting was warmed up.

What do you think guys, i have forscan, will it show much if i plug it in. I did pull off rather abruptly two days ago though, dropped the clutch very hard, (being a tit and trying to break traction on some frosty road) was wondering if thats done something. Thanks guys

What fault codes re you getting..?? Are "all" the tyres the same size..??

Hi mate, sorry took ages to reply been unwell, yes all tyres same sixe, i managed to read the codes, theres no abs codes at all. Did a 200 mile trip in it on weekend (its a campervan not used it in a few weeks), its pulsing for longer periods now even when the brake isnt applied, even at 40mph, i can hear it whining, sometimes pressing the brake pedal makes it go away, sometimes it goes on its own, nothing felt through pedal when it happens, pedal and brakes feel normal, maybe slightly sh***er, but the discs and pads are on their lazzies anyway, maybe thats why its doing it, Ive bought new discs and pads and will check the rings and sensors on the front, but no codes on forscan so a bit stumped. cheers.

Problem was resolved by changing discs and pads, brakes were in a dangerous condition, still unsure how it was triggering the ABS pump though.

Hard to see how that lot passed the last MOT

is it me or do the original pads look narrower than the new ones

ive just looked at loads of pics on the net and ebay .. and the pads look narrower for the rear .

ps .. think your ABS pump may be another separate problem, like the reluctor rings are cracked

My MK6 that I had many years ago with ABS was sensative to tyres while it was still under warranty, if I had new tyres on the back and the front were over half worn it would trigger the ABS. The main dealer took it for a road test and could see the RPM were different enough for it to happen and reported back to Ford for a fix, there answer was to replace all the tyres at the same time.
Even the dealer was suprised at the answer and did me a deal on a set of new tyres.
