Remote Central Locking Issue! MK7 (2009)

Hello one and all!

So I have a weird and wonderful fault with a transit Central Locking system

So the central locking will work as intended from the driver door barrel, but not from the key fob.

The fob has been replaced along with the whole lock/barrel/fuel cap due to being locked out of the van and no way to get in.
Local autolocksmith came out, gained access to the van, said the barrel in the driver door was too worn to successfully cut a new key to it and needed a whole lock set.

Before this, the old remote didn't work and the customer was using a standard key with the van. The autolocksmith fitted a whole lockset and then proceeded to state, everything is paired, you can still use the driver door to manually open the doors, the remote sends a signal out but it still doesn't work. You've got other issues. But it £700 for the lockset and fitting. Go on your way now please.

They guy, I'd say foolishly, paid him the money and now has come to myself to try and resolve why it doesn't work.

Fuses have all been checked in the front fuse box behind the glovebox, the "hidden" fuse box behind the original one. I have seen fuse F76 (?) being the one for the central locking, but this is okay.

I have dropped the headlining and found the receiver for the fob. When opening and closing the doors, the little red LED inside this module flashes. This is the same for all 4 doors on the van. Nothing happens when I press any of the buttons on the replacement fob.

All the doors cause the interior lights to illuminate when they are opened, so the vehicle knows that they are open/shut. My thinking is that if the BCM thinks one door is open then the remote Central Locking won't send a lock/unlock signal out to the module to function correctly.

Using a Delphi Scan tool, there are no relevant fault codes within the trucks modules (one for a glow plug but that's it)

So to recap.

Central Locking Module and Receiver have power, central locking works off the driver door but does nothing off the new fob.

Where can we go from here apart from Main dealer? Autolocksmith is no help!

mine is virtually the same but im using the original fob when i press the fob the led on the central locking receiver flashes but will not open the doors that can only be done by key in drivers door ? so im whittling it down to something in the fuse box although all fuses are ok ? i did find this thread on the net ?
Hello, I hope the following assists you.
On a 2009 Transit there aren't any fuses for the central locking under the steering column, this is on the 2000 to 2006 MY Transit.
The central locking on this model is controlled by the body control module (BCMii)which is also the fuse box inside the van. If the central locking is operating as it should when using the key in the door lock then the concern is with the remote receiver in the roof, the wiring between this and the BCMii or the keys not charging when the van is running.
If the key transmits every time when tested then you can disregard the keys as a fault. Unfortunately the self test facility on the BCMii doesn't include confirming the remote key signal has been received.
Most Transit key fob faults tend to be the key fob itself or the auxiliary battery failing can affect the fob battery charging, any replacement key fob needs to be programmed to the van using diagnostic equipment unlike the 2000 to 2006 MY which can be done on a DIY basis.
If you're 100% the keys are OK and the central locking works from the door lock then the fault is the remote receiver, wiring to the BCMii or the BCMii itself.
The central locking fuse is in the BCMii and from memory is fuse 74 for the remote receiver and 78 for the locking.

Hey I don't suppose you got anywhere with this? What was the verdict it sounds like the exact thing that's happened to my transit, I've tried the key, battery, antenna, fuses don't know what to do next besides just giving it to ford and have them charge me a small fortune for it...

So had this issue a few times. After first time spending hours checking everything a aux battery replacement worked. After a 2 years it did it again. Swapped van batteries (front for back) and it worked again.
Problem just came back again! Replaced both van batteries (under warranty) and it worked....twice. locked and unlocked on test. Drove somewhere and it locked. When I returned, fob didn't open the van again! WTF! Don't know what is going on now! So bloody frustrating. Any ideas guys?

So I plugged for scan in. Detected the key fob sync issue. I cleared it but still no luck!
Decided to disconnect battery for 15 mins. Reconnected the batterys and it now bloody works! Really don't know what is going on!
