Yes, this is a must do item as the system needs calibration after fitting new injectors. If not done it will never run well.

You need to reset the PRV couter values, then do pump, pilot and injector learns. If the SCV and PRV aren't well, it won't pass successfully.

Excellent, thanks for the advice .. will get on it tomorrow.

So tried to do the pump learn, and it keeps stopping at 46%, tried it 4 times now ans stopping at the same place every time ... any suggestions ?

Update to the ABS warning lights on, I changed the sensor on the rear right for a new one, checked the wiring and all is good, but still have the light on, after I cleared the codes, so something else is going on thats not the sensor or the wiring at the rear,

when I drive all the other 3 sensors are reading correctly in forscan, but the RR is reading zero.

Any idea's on my next course of action

p.s. I am assuming rear right is offside rear

Cheers

Jack the back up and spin each wheel in turn with the live data on and hope that it is enough to show a reading, it will confirm that 1 side works and that rr is driver rear. It should be.

You must then have a break in the abs wheel circuit between the sensor and the module.

RR- is brown. ABS connector 1 pin 29

Yes..!

All injectors fitted and programmed in, tourqued the bolts down to 6 and 180, on the way back home engine rattling like a bag of nails, one of the bolts came loose ... had to pull over, get a lift home then come back and sort the bolt out .. frustrated, but all ok now .. sounds and feels well smoth now ... need to wait for a frosty morning so I can test the remote engine start to see if it starts and keeps running, cutting out and not defrosting my van was one of the reasons for the change of injectors (along with rough tickover and rough running sometimes).

Do I also need to do an injector pilot correction learn routine too ?

Checked all wires to the ABS sensors and they all look good, so probably a sensor, will remove it over the weekend and do some tests, but may just get a replacement anyway.
The bolt hadn't come loose , clamp has caught an edge on the injectors that gives you a false sense of everything tightened then it eventually comes of edge and everything is instantly loose and engine sounds as though it's destroying it's self

So finally got round to sorting the ABS fault, after a bit of investigation, found that the conduit from front to rear containing the sensor wires had been split in several locations up to the front connecter, then taped up with green tape, which made me though that there had been a problem before with the wires and the splits were access for fault finding.

started at tthe front by the plug under the ABS pump, pulled the plug, and a load of water cam out of the conduit, thats when I knew this is where the issue is, sure enough, a previous repair had deteriorated and disintegrated because of the water, stripped the wires, repaired, taped up well and made waterproof ... ABS lights out now.

So anybody else with ABS and ESP lights on, check continuity on all wiring front to back first, its a cheap fix if a wire is broken.

Thanks everybody for the help.

I see it's a couple years since you were last on, but in case you're hovering about: how did you sort your pump issue and get out of the persistent pump learn fail at 46%?

He hasn't been back since June of 2024.

Pump learn failure is often caused by a poorly SCV and/or poorly injectors. The fuel temp has to be in the correct "zone" too...or it will fail.

Aye, me 'lord! Nice to see you about :)
Total long shot he would maybe be a lurker and drop by to tell his tale at some point ;)

Yes, SCV, temps and injectors. I have the first two knocked off the list, but about to change two injectors for new ones if leak-off reaffirms my last result.

There's a fourth "anti pump learn demon" too I believe; egr delete mappings. I've seen it present in many of these pump learn stories. However, some say they shouldn't be a problem. The jury is still out afaict.

My van in question has one, so plan B if steady injector setup doesn't do the trick is firmware update with forscan beta. When the story is written, (or before, if I get completely stuck) I'm planning to write a little post that might hopefully help someone else out some day :)

What is this firmware update you speak of..?? There hasn't been a PCM/BCM update since 2012 for the Euro-4's....and it had nothing to do with fuel injection system.

Right! Most likely the van already has the newest (2012) update since ages ago.
A firmware update wouldn't be to "update" anything; it's simply a means of reverting the van to a factory setting/mapping, and "delete the egr-delete", so to say ;)

From what I could gather across the web (nothing "AI", just various forums etc), it seems that vans that have egr mapped out run into a brick wall of trouble trying to complete the learns. That may also be true for vans that have egr blanked off but not mapped out.

However, there's some differing voices, and I don't consider it fully conclusive. It could for instance be that the seeming incompatability of egr being mapped out vs successfully completing the learns is more nuanced; ie that there is some more sofisticated way to map out egr without disturbing the ability to complete pump and pilot injector learns. I really don't know, and would love some definite authority on the technicals of it :)

In the mean time, I'm dealing with the not uncommon "pump learn fail at 46%" phenomena with my 2010 transit now, which has egr mapped out. My prime suspect is the egr delete. Hopefully my investigations will provide some answers.

From the various forum cases, the solution often involves mapping and the pcm, but many also are left "unsolved", like the thread right here, where the issue was solved but who knows how?

Sometimes these issues present themselves like the second final chapter of some Agatha Christie, begging for a curious eye. On the other hand, maybe the "case" was solved forever ago, and this is just my uneducated buttocks going for a wild emu chase?

PS, forums tell me the FEPS 18V on 13th pin interface was only on gasoline models in the, say, post 2005 era. An obvious case where many learned might know the definite answer, but to my amateur bumblings it's a "current best known theory" ;)
