Mk7 transit using oil

Ive noticed sometimes starting van i get a burst of blue smoke then driving off its gone, it is using oil i keep my eye on levels could it be turbo or egr valve? Ive had new injector seals and there is no trace of oil anywhere.

EGR doesn't have oil going through it...so can't be that. Turbo is a common source of excess oil loss/usage. Pop the turbo inlet pipe off and check for excessive rotor play, axial or radial....also pop the intercooler hoses off and see if there's a silly amount of oil in it...if so, your turbo is probably munted.

Van has many new parts even injector seals, and that chain cover plastic cap that warps i will check turbo for play but why the blue smoke is intermittent is strange

It's an oil pressure warning not a low oil warning.
Although low oil will trigger low oil pressure when the bottom end bearings fail.

I may have imagined this whilst in a warm bath with a glass of champagne.

As long as there is oil pressure, the light won't come on whilst the engine is running....even if the oil level is very low. As mentioned by gotgcoalman, it's a pressure sensor, not a level sensor....the dipstick is your level sensor.

Some of the Mk7 2.4 Euro-4 Transits have an oil level sensor, not listed for the early 2.2's though.

The oil level sensor, if fitted, is on the drivers side low down, not far from where the dip stick goes into the aluminium "stiffener" & sump.

Your post Cluster went blank shows a 2008 2.4 transit.
Catcar shows oil level sensor for 2006 to 2014 transits.
