Air and egr gaz mixing box

Hey
Just starting to clean the intake manifold and all the components.
I 'am surprised to not find an air-intake valve...am i true?
2.2l TDCI 130HP from 2007 (qwfa)
I remember to have seen one years ago, but it was on a more récent one +/-2012)

Mk 7 2006 to 2014. 2011 to 2014 not the same as the 2006 to 2011.
The 2012 has a throttle valve situated before the EGR pipe connection - as the EGR opens the throttle valve closes. That is on a RWD - the FWD could be different.

The April 17 2006 through to Sept 26 2011 Euro-4 does not have the throttle valve...only the Mk7's "built" from Sept 2011 through to the end of 2014 Euro-5 does.

I never really understood why it is necessary on a diesel engine...part of the Euro-5+ pollution rubbish I suspect.
