Fog lights

Postby Terry » Fri Feb 03, 2006 8:39 pm

Hi
Sorry about this bad news !
There are no wires for the fog lights !
I bought the fog lights and the new corner sections of the bumpers
(no they won't fit ! ?)at £29.00 apiece, the foglamps at I think it was £39.00 apiece + £10.00 each for the bulbs ! (non standard), a new light switch (cant remember how much but NOT cheap), only to find there is NO provision for wiring them in. The local Fraud dealer confidently told me the loom would be about £30. only to find there isn't one ! He then offered to make me one up for £110, then decided against it ! Naturally I checked with another dealer and same result.
On his computer the wiring loom shows the wires for them, but on the van
they just ain't there ! Mine had the wiring for elecric mirrors but not for
electric windows !
I have wired a switch (ignition fed) beside the radio down to a relay on the slam panel so the run from battery to relay to lights was as short as possible, I wired in a pair of spots below the bumper while I was at it !, they are set up for continental driving because they HATE my headlights over there!.
I got a little black book with me poems in

hmm very strange our mk6 camper didnt have fogs so we got some then realised we needed the switch cost us another £70 ish then fitted it all up and when we looked our loom already had provisions for the fogs in it they were clipped up underneath :? :? :? easy peasy took about an 1hr to do the job 8)

Most Transits have the wiring as part of the main engine bay loom.

You'll be looking for a multiplug clipped on to the chassis rails just above the radiator support panel.

looks like a loop of wire with nothing to do

Cant argue with you but I coouldn't find them in mine, the guy who
services the van couldn't find them either !.
The sparks who fitted the electric windows had to order a loom from Germany because it wasn't there already (much to his surprise), it meant a 2nd trip from Southend so I don't think hes was telling me porkies.
