Advice Needed

Postby Lee J » Wed Mar 01, 2006 4:33 pm

As you already know my engine on the 2001 new shape transit blew it's head gasket in January and it was fitted with another engine which also blew it's head gasket last week. So, the garage in question has said bring it in and we'll fit another engine under warrenty. Now earlier today I spoke to a friend who has a commercial garage and he said that he could supply and fit another engine for me for £1500 all in. Now this engine only has 40k on it.

What should I do?

Should I go say to garage1 "sod your warrenty, give me my money back, i dont trust you" and take van to garage2.
or
am I obliged to let garage1 go ahead with the replacement. Im not knowing what they're gonna put in it.

You cant go back to the garage and get your money back if they are willing to 'fix' it under warranty.

If they say they wont fix it that would be different, but the law says that if you have a warranty and they are honouring it you have to allow them 'reasonable time' to carry out those repairs.

You wont get your money back! So as they've offered you another engine I would go with that!
