Postby woodspoiler in transit » Mon Mar 13, 2006 10:57 pm

:( Hello,
Just got mi new tranny with a didji taco, firstly does anyone know how to work them as i havn't got a distruction manual to go with it. :?
Also the dash board doesn't show a mileage reading just the trip milage thing, there also is a strange ticking sound coming from behind the dash :( could it be a buuurmmm or poss the cable isn't attached properly.
I know this is long winded message but the main dealer is bl**dy useless.

You have the very latest Tacho with the smart card data recording and printer or the slightly older style with the chart?

There is NO mileage display on the main dash unit as the tachograph is the main point of distance reference, this is normal.

Are you hearing the faint buzz with the ignition on but engine off? If so thats also normal of all 2000-> transits and some late 95 shapes, it's the electonic speedo. It's only a faint noise, but once your listening out for it, it gets on your nerves.

The very best source of info on the digital tachograph is VOSA, their website did have some info on it last time I had reason to look for it. BUT it wasn't easy to find.

At the moment the system is a farce with typical government cock ups pushing implimentaion dates back. Have you actually got a smart card yet?

I know one company i deal with who are recording their drivers hours in a log book  because they can't get hold of cards to use in their new 135t430 vehicles.

The vehicles will move without a card, but the tacho displays a message to say that no card has been inserted.

When the nice PC checks you at road side and does his little print to check your hours, you can expect a night with big bubba

i got my card back in 7 days in january this year..thought i better get one as i do a school run as a relief driver in a bus which has a digi tacho

just remembered as i hit the send button..if you need info (a little book to explain how to use digi tachos/cards)go to any place that sells the normal tacho cards and they can give you a 2 page booklet..or they can sell you a 58ish page one on servicing/repair/diagnoises.
