weds i had a new water pump fitted (see avatar lol) as engine was dieing under power, water was boiling, anyway had new oneas i was told this was the problem, but now seem underload, going up slight incline on the motorway the temp needles up and down,it sit at a quarter the goes 3quarter then to the end, back to a quarter ,take foot off pedle seems to settle back down, could this just be a sender/sensor prob that could be lived with for a while?
also whats the thin wire from the battery live under the bonnet tha goes in to thebox at the front as mines corroded through,ad will i have to replce the whole red thing,
if this seems a bit garbled i can be contacted on 07973 470739,rob.

Have you had a look at the wiring from the sensor?

I'd also remove the thermostat housing and have a good look inside, there is a small bypass valve inside which has been known to cause concern.

might be worth sticking on a new thermostat housing and stat. ;)

A thinner cable on it's own running along with the main loom......sounds like the fuse link wire for the glow plugs.

The glow plug light will still work as that side of it is controlled by the PCM, but the plugs won't get a feed. It doesn't normally make much difference in the UK to starting BUT one side of that cable is LIVE.
