damned thing wont start

Postby simondo » Thu Sep 29, 2005 4:05 pm

i have a 2001 transit diesel with a starting problem.
it has been sitting for a few weeks and no matter what i try it wont start.
it turns over quick enough(sounds fast)
ive cracked off the injector pipes and i get fuel out with a few bubbles.
i also bled out the fuel filter.
the immobilizer light goes out when you turn on the ignition so i presume its not an immobilizer fault
its got a quarter of a tank of diesel in it so i dont think fuel supply is a problem.
can somebody help me coz im going mad.
ive tried everything i can think of and i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas
thanks :D

Also I guess it's the diesel, but is it the 2L or the 2.4L?

To bleed the 2000 on Transit, 2.0 or 2.4, if it has a hand prime on top of the fuel filter, turn on ignition, crack of injectors, pump hand prime, watch diesel flow from injectors when there is no air tighten injectors, thats it all bled off, the system only pressurises when cranking with correct key(immobiliser controls high pressure fueling )then if it dosent start either the cam chain has slipped or broke or the fuel pump is u/s,does the glow plug light flash?, from my experience its probably the fuel pump had it, where does your diesel come from? can or pump? these 2000 on Transits are very sensitive to dirty or contaminated fuel and when the pump sences dirty fuel it tells the ECU to stop the pump from fueling.sometimes you can clear the fault codes from the ECU and try starting the engine again, you might be lucky.
