Locks

Postby sc_BK » Mon Sep 18, 2006 1:52 am

OK another stupid newbie question, but how do you work the locks? I put the key into the drivers door, turn either way and nothing happens? Go round the passenger side, turn the key and all it locks is the passenger door, all the others are still open? :?

Also, it has a Cobra alarm and imobiliser fitted, which I *think* is supposed to lock the doors, but doesn't seem to (from randomly pressing buttons on the remote)

If its a pannel van you turn the key clockwise to lock the door then quickley anti clockwise to dead lock it. To open the side and back doors you turn the key clockwise once then again in quick sucksession.

get yourself a focus style key for it then you'll have it all in one no fuss

as long as you've got two working keys you can program it yourself

it won't interfere with the alarm - doesn't sound like the cobra's been wired into the locking anyway - or you could get yourself a better alarm that ties in to the factory remote

I got an autowatch one for mine - dead easy to fit it has multiplugs that just T into the CDL control box - run wires to the siren an bonnet switch - run wires to the ultrasonic and LED - job done - if you drag your heels it'll take an hour and a half to install

here's a couple of e bay links - he's the fella I got mine off

This is all new to me, I'm used to vehicle security being a big ass chain through the rear wheel and round a lampost  Me dad says he'll get it booked in with his mechanic who'll give the whole van a look over, and look at the locks.
