Postby glenandemm » Mon Nov 27, 2006 10:40 pm

when i stop say at traffic lights i hear a bang from underneath from the middle or rear, no play in propshaft,im baffled coz it only does it intermttently, just a small bang, the other problem i have is the accelerator when i put my foot down theres no slowly edging in from the power it just bangs like if you violently press pedal down all the way,and also just as i put my foot down it feels like theres a tiny flat spot between 2 and 3k,any ideas its an 03 125 ps tddi, cheers glen

nah i thought that but this sounds like a metal sort of noise, thinking it could be diff coz it makes the samebang when i put it in first gear from neutral i hear a slight bang from the back, cant be clutch dragging coz ive just replaced it and the ddf for a solid one,may need to bleed clutch?

If it isn't any of the above might it be the rear brakes sticking. You can get funny noises if you get fluid leaking on the shoes.
Other things are petrol tank moving if its full, spare wheel, axle moving on springs, shock absorbers or exhaust hitting something (weight of engine pulling on it when slowing down).
Hope you get it sorted out.

My MK6 done that and so does my MK7 but to a lesser extent. It only happens when I come to stop and have already engaged 1st gear. It is a sort of clunk sound just once and can be felt through the gear stick and pedals.

would drescibe it as a heavy knock or a dull thud?

Try filling the tank and checking it, it's usually worse with the fuel load at about ¼ and it is fuel moving in the tank.

It can be reduced by having new NVH pads fitted between the chassis rail and the tank.

It make no difference how much fuel is in the tank, and it is a dull thud that can be felt through the gear stick and pedals. As i said it did it on my MK6 but it not as bad on the new one. :?
