Clonking, Banging and genral falling apart type noises

Postby lockie » Fri Dec 08, 2006 1:03 pm

Hi all, got one of them 2001 FWD 2.0Diesel SWB, most of the time it runs great no noises at all, then suddenley Bang!! an almighty noise from under the front sounds like from the passenger side.it only just passed the MOT.The lower/rear gearbox mount has been changed as this was found to totaly knackered.
The Banging noise happend under hard acceleration and then it will do it a bit under braking, but not all the time, also doing a tight turn L or R makes it happen(the drive shafts appear o.k)Mileage 80,000.

Just incase the MOT missed it, check the coil spring hasn't snapped a coil toward the top or bottom which can be easily missed :!: or take it back  and tell them :!:

Could still be the spring as if broken near the end it would be easy to miss, and it wouldn't hardly change the vehicle height
