VAN CUTS OUT WHEN ACCELERATE

Postby Kay1972 » Tue Apr 29, 2025 10:13 am

Hi woundering if anyone can help i have a transit 2001 2 4 lwb
On idling when i accelerate it cuts out if i accelerate slowly very slowly
Slight touching the pedal it will accelerate and is fine drives fine so it starts first time runs soon as you touch the pedal cuts out after driving it if i turn the ignition off and back on same thing happens iv noticed it doesnt excelerate as quick and slows down up hills.i had codes p0149 po335 p1564 p1665 b2139 b2141
Iv changed crank senor no difference checked wiring seems ok
Changed fuel filter noticed it was low bled injectors seems fine
I had a second hand gearbox fitted 3 weeks ago the mechanic changed the clutch it was a dualmass but he fitted a single as i bought a clutch but didnt check to see if it was duall mass but gears are all fine works well wasnt sure if this had anything to do with it mechanic said it fit fine shouldnt be a problem.

Your fault codes give you the answer:

P0149 points to a faulty timing solenoid.
P1564 is the pump control module requesting reduced fueling due to a fault elsewhere.
P1665 points to a failing fuel pump EDC.
P0335 points to a faulty crankshaft position sensor...or the wiring to it is not happy.
B2139 points to an immobiliser fault.
B2141 points to poor communication or fault between PCM and PATS.

First thing to check is the wiring loom to/from the fuel pump electronics and to from the PCM...often a poorly connection or broken wire can cause all sorts of dramas and throw all sorts of fault codes.

If all the wiring proves ok, you'll probably need to look at fuel pump EDC and timing solenoid issues.

Single mass clutch/flywheel will have no connection to your problem.

Hi thanks for your reply ok just an update iv cleaned
As much connectors as could see checked wiring
All seems fine changed fuel filter again for a ford original one, changed over main relay and changed over pump relay it actually pulls and drives normal now 60 70 mph no problem and up hills.but still cuts out when i first start it when i put my foot on the accelerater pedal,if i press it slowly lightly pumping the pedal its fine.i noticed when changing the fuel filter it was half way again.
Codes im getting now are.
P0335
P1564
P1664
P1665
Iv noticed a very slight gap when tightening the fuel filter plastic ring cant get rid of the gap also the clear plastic buble indicator acasionaly showing a buble at the bottom and seems like a broken plastic pit in the spring not much happens when i press the top.
Does this sound like the pump because if it is how comes i can drive it upto 70mph and run all day long.

Hi sorry also forgot to mention the disel pump relay gets quite warm as the others are cold and the relay fuse which sets on its own in separate box above the glove compartmentalso gets quite warm.

P1564, P1664 & P1665 still point to a faulty fuel pump EDC. They can be repaired.

What "housing"..?? I assume you mean the fuel filter housing..??

Waste of time if you still have the P1564, P1664 & P1665 codes.

probably should check live data? hoses have a small clip at the bottom, so you have to turn them 45-90degrees firts to get access to pressing them

Wasting your time until the EDC is sorted, will only get worse. The fault codes don't lie.

Thanks knobby edc getting looked at quick one knobby the housing on fuel filter dont look good iv ordered another one which iv been told is the right one but this new one has a primer pump on top with value at the front which i believe is for bleeding and metal nut on top.mine is the old one with clear indicator shows diesel level and push button on top wats the best way to bleed the new one pls do i loosen one injector one at a time and prime using the button on top of the housing.or loosen the metal nut on top and prime using the button on top of the housing.cheer
