That's interesting. The pads on my Mk5 used to last over 50,000 miles, and I only remember one set of rear shoes in all the time I had it. In my (as yet) limited experience with the Mk7, I feel that I am using the brakes more because there seems to be much less 'engine braking' effect, although that may be because I haven't got used to the 6-speed box and TDCi engine. I had already been thinking to myself that the pads will not last as long as the Mk5.mikeouk wrote:my mk 7 needs pads all round, its done 26000 miles, is this normal? i used to get around 50000 from a set of pads on my mark 6.

a bit like performance tyres give better grip so wear quicker, like say.........sportvan tyres...
