Generally the higher the PS the better the economy, yes all tdci, the only real problem is the egr valves

The best you can buy is a 140 in 'Limited' spec, like what Mike Spence is buying :)

the flagship model according to the brochure is the sportvan but in my view the 140 limited is top dog...that is at least until we see a 200 swb  8)

Without wanting to get into a sportvan battle (maybe later) I think you have to weigh up the running costs, which with a GLX/Limited are going to be considerably less than a sport.

would the lower bhp not be more reliable and cheaper to fix if it did go wrong?

and why did they stop doing the 110 did they have problems ?

The 110 was upgraded to 115 with 6spd the same way as the 130 became 140 6spd. Generally the higher ps vans are less stressed because they aren't subject to high revs.

Hmm, the current brochure claims that everything bar the petrol has DMF. It also has pictures showing vans with the body panels aligned

The Focus brochure also said the ST came with 'premium velour mats', did it f**k, agured big time with the sales manager when I got mine, ended up with rubber ones

I spent nearly two years making this decision - you can follow the tale by reading some of my postings. Use the search function and select 'Vee4'.

Comments from Forum members provided the most useful input. The dealers just want to show you how many wonderful cupholders there are.

I chose the 115/T280. That was primarily because at the time of ordering, the 115 was the 'lowest' model to have the 6-speed gearbox. I was used to my 76PS Mk5 so I wasn't concerned about the extra power and as stated elsewhere, it doesn't necessarily mean that you use more fuel. From what I could see, the 85PS and 115PS were much the same apart from the engine map. They all have DMF now anyway, but having done the research, I was prepared to accept that with the 115PS. The T280 spec gave me the same payload as the Mk5, i.e. approximately 1000kg.

FWD gives you more load space with a lower loading height and better fuel economy.

If the Econetic had been available when I was placing the order, I would have seriously considered it. It is basically a 115/T280 with 16" wheels. Check the Diary for the comparison:

Options well worth having: Quickclear and second battery.

After 3 years of production, some 'teething troubles' have been fixed and that includes a more reliable EGR. There are many threads about reliability on the Forum. For me, it is the most important criterion, just ahead of fuel economy.

E&OE! YMMV!!

Do all 85 and 110s have solid flywheels? If not when did they change to DMF mines a 110 built Oct 07 in Turkey will this be solid or DMF?

Nope, all Diesel RWD's do, RWD petrol has solid, 85/110ps FWD are solid, 130/140ps has DMF unsure about 115
