Mk7 'lane change' indicators

Postby Vee4 » Sat May 29, 2010 12:40 pm

I'm not sure if this has been raised before but I couldn't find any references ...

Is it possible to turn off the 'lane change' indicator switching, i.e. where the indicators flash three times if you push the stalk without latching it? I could easily live without it (viewtopic.php?p=553854#p553854) and it is a nuisance if triggered accidentally, e.g. when operating the dip switch.

Don't think you can, you would have to ask fords.
You have the option on the new connect to either have it going off the once or three times but this feature is not on either of my mk7s ;)

It's tricky - you have to get the timing just right. If you trigger it in one direction, it is immediately cancelled by going in the other direction, so you can do it.

I know you can switch this off on the Focus in the dash menu, can you not do it like that on the Transit.

I've got this on my Caddy and hate it yet find myself trying to do it when I get back in the Mk6.

I guessed it would be that or not at all - can anyone look it up? I will ask when the van goes in for its first service. If I felt strongly enough, I suppose it would be possible to eject the relevant contact pins from the stalk connector to disable the feature, or even to parallel them with the main contacts so that it worked the same way as the Mk5.

There wont be different contact pins, it`s controlled by the ECU. Basically if you held the stalk just enough to trigger the 3 flashes, but kept it held here, the indicators would stay flashing. The latching bit on the stalk just keeps it held in place until either you or the wheel cancels it.

I love the feature, my car has it too. It did take some getting used to, but it`s great now.
