Central locking remotes

I've read a post somewhere (can't find in now) re the above which differs from the instructions I got with a new remote fob. The instructions I got were to switch the ignition on and off eight times, the last time leaving the key in the on (II) position. (Locks start locking / un-locking) then press any button on the remote, then turn off the ignition. This works but I can only get one remote to work at any one time, aparantly up to 4 can be programmed. I've tried pressing the buttons on each of my three remotes, but only the first one pressed will the work
...anyone know the way round this???

Sorry. Yes I tried them all consecutively, and two of them simultaniously with no joy, only the first one pressed will work

the procedure in the link has never worked for me (I think it's off TIS but it's wrong)

the way you've done it sounds right - this is how I've always done it :-

do the ignition on and off trick eight times leaving the ignition on pos 2 - the doors will lock then unlock - press button on first remote - doors will lock then unlock - press button on second remote etc - switch off ignition when finished with all remotes

The correct and published method of programing the fob is

turn the ignition from off to on 8 times within 10 seconds ending up with the battery light (ign On) ON

the vehicle will confirm it's entry into learn mode by locking and unlocking the doors

after it's finished doing the locking bit

press any button on the fob

the vehicle will then confirm that it's learnt the code by doing the magic locking thing again

when thats finished press a button on the OTHER fob

the vehicle will now cycle the locks for the 3rd time

turn off the ignition and the vehicle will cycle the locks for the 4th and last time.

leave the vehicle alone for 30 seconds or so and then test operation of both fobs, I favour using 1 fob to lock and double lock and then the other to open load area and then front doors

what year of van did you try it on? - there could well be two procedures that both work as you say according to the age of the van

I didn't try it, I posted the procedure from the TIS onto here and the person that tried it said it worked.

oh right - still no harm in try both ways - one or the other will work

Transit 2000 has always used 8 turns on the ignition though, and still haven't found an old edition of TIS that says otherwise for it,

Some of the carlines use fewer turns though.

A consolidated TSB was released to dealers in 03 iirc which gave details of how to program ALL the radio frequency remotes in use at the time.
