Switching off door locking that sets after driving ??

Postby ChuckH » Sun Jun 20, 2010 9:22 pm

My van locks all its doors when driving away from the kerb. If I stop to drop something off when I undo the drivers door to get out the passenger door also unlocks But the rear doors remain locked until I remove the key from the ignition and unlock the doors with the remote... Which is just bloody anoying ......
Can I turn this off ? If so how do I do it ? Thanks........................

Why is it not possible to unlock via the remote without removing the key ?? This of course means turning off and restarting. Im having battery problems with My van and its just not helping keep restarting all the sodding time. My battery tests fine when at the dealers and is still under warranty but it seem as though its turning over realy slow. My dealer is a complete w*** at the best of times ..

That is how it works on the Mk7. Mine was delivered with the 'anti-hijack' locking off, and I had to ask for it to be turned on when I took the van in for a minor repair, because that suits me better now. There are options for different locking configurations, including slam locking, but they have to be specified on the factory order.

If there is a key in the ignition, and the ignition is on (with or without engine running), the fob will not operate the locks. I was going to suggest that you could use the regular key in the ignition and just keep the fob on your belt, but that won't work unless you turn the engine off. Anyway, you wouldn't want to leave the van unattended with a key in - insurance wouldn't pay out if it was hi-jacked.

I miss the mechanical slam locks on my Mk5!

The van in front is a Transit. It might be my Mk7 - follow the trail of rusty water: Diary of an Ordinary Van

Have the same problem, mines a 58 plate, a great feature if you don't do multidrop As soon as you pull off it locks all doors and as I have several collections in each road I tend to leave my drivers door just open so not closed properly just so I don't have to keep resarting the engine all the time. :(
