ok so another idiot joins the group, sorry dumb question time

been reading the whole thread and a few others on this subject.

as i only have and plan to only have a 350 trany mk6 which from what i gather its only able to do fault codes and fuel systems do i need to go to the expense of the £100 , v86 IDS set up, or is the cheaper basic set or code reader and resetter better suited to me.

the hard part i have yet to work out is what all the codes mean, are they explained better on the v86 or is it a case of finding them on the tinternet

OK

Now is probably the time to buy :)

What is the best version to get now (for a Mk6 125ps 2.0 tdci) - and where from? See they are c. £125 on ebay to come from China/HK, but should have paypal protection?

Is the version number important?

No because it wasn't available when i got the pic, hence me adding it :o

Tbh any of them will work and the lower the spec then you won't have Wi-Fi, but if you don't care about Wi-Fi then they are cheaper :-)
I got the highest 1 for the most money and 2 broke :-( but they sent me 2 by accident so I'm on my third now, but the Wi-Fi broke, I'm currently using the cable which works
Apparently there's a fix but the member seems to be hiding now. :?

Thanks Ake:-)
Don't think you can do any real harm tbh, but stay away from the rcm and get to know ids before playing too much, ie. Know how to obtain incodes, and find out how to recover a partial module program gone wrong, but that may not be something you'll be able to learn without doing it
Either way there's a few of us that can help in most situations :o
