We have made mk7 decats, well two of them but neither guys could stay while we jigged there pipe or let us borrow the oe ford one, we have the flanges done but cant post them out, only make and fit on the vehicle.
Any one wants one they would have to come to us, which being in back end of lincolnshire isnt good

Sent them a PM no reply but it was christmass i am thinking that as i am now on my 3rd turbo in under 4 years and 90k i recon the cat must be full of oil and crud so i thought i may take it off and knock the inards out to keep the factory look, any one done this on the mk7 and any hints would be gratefully received.

if you get pp tuning to do it, they can do it while you wait and get more £££ for your own cat to sell or way in.

is your van still under warrenty ? if not i'd just knock the innards out although if you want to get really fussy with flow dynamics a de cat pipe would be better ! i'd knock the innards out

Vans 4 years old now, if my local exhaust place could make a decat pipe for the wright price i would let them have a go but there attemp to make a special stainless pipe for my last car wasnt too good so knocking the inards out it is then, whats involved anyone give me some simple instructions.

I knocked my mk 6 cat out today. Litteraly took 5 mins. 22mm sds bit and drill a few holes 1st then knock it out with the end of you jack or summit. Easy pee sey .. Didnt know they wasnt a MOT must tho.... WIll have to tell my mate, his BMW 330 particle filter has blocked.... BM want over a grand to replace it.

I bit the bullet & smashed my mk7's cat out this weekend - the results are so far, very pleasing.
Low down, there's a bit better throtte response and a bit more oomph, a little turbo whistle when pulling away too
Noise & refinement are no worse, maybe a tad more refined - can't see why though.

Removal of the front exhaust section is easy with basic tools but a deep, narrow wall 15mm socket is required to get at one of the nuts at the turbo.

The catylist itself is smashed out with a lump hammer & 'wrecking' bar but feels a bit daunting at first, considering the cost of the things!

Fuel consumption seems as before but I'll keep an eye on it (has settled at 34mpg, was 35/36 in summer).

When it's had a good trial, I'll get an economy tune from vantuner.

petrols need them for mot, so can not be done.
