yes but when 13mm bolt is tight have you tried to take tention off with the bar...or even tried to push tentioner down with a bit of wood or something similar...13mm bolt is just to take tentioner off....and if it is rusted up it aint working right

sussed it eventually - yes when I went to actualy do the job the 13mm spanner was just the retaining bolt fo rthe tensioner which I left alone after it started undoing. the ratchet hole laceted a little deeper was the one, thanks for the picture.

Is this a fan and cowling off job? Or can it be done with those in situ? if not how do they come off?

Breaker bar in the square hole, lever the tensioner so you can slip off the belt, the belt will go around the fan and fit new 1 easy peasy 2mins cup of tea and another 2 mins
Ps. The fan has different size gaps in the blades so get 1 with a big gap so it'll give you more room to get the breaker in.

Hi I've just replaced me alternator on my mark 6 tipper I've put the old belt back on and it drives for a couple of mile then dies out it just keeps clicking thanks

What's doing the clicking?

The belt is tightened automatically by the tensioner pulley spring.

Any chance it's the wrong length belt or something?
Is it a new alternator? Pulley ok??
