M5 wheels on my Mk6

Rear PCD is about 2mm bigger than the hole in the middle of the rear drums. So I've just nicked 5 little semi-cirles out of the drum to allow it to sit over the studs without touching them.
I've pressed the front wheel studs through the original Transit PCD, and chopped them off just shy of the surface of the drum face, to act as location dowels for the drum, to stop it turning on the hub.

Got both rears bolted up to the van for a trial fit, but fitted some old E36 wheels just to try, then reverted back to the standard Van wheels and hubs until the weekend when I will change it over properly, and do the fronts too.

Quite looking forward to it really. I've had a browse around and there are some really nice 5x120 wheels on the market. T5 Transporters run on the same PCD.

only q. is what stopping the original transit stud dropping back into the drum? can't you get anything on the outside of it to keep it secure or does it foul the wheel ? what about drilling and tapping the hub and countersinking the drum? would that work?

welding them from the back sounds like the best idea

as you say a later T5 transporter runs the same PCD and they tyres are the same as the sportvan - my transit is converted to 5x112 pcd - same as the vitos and early transporters - lots of people assume its not safe but done right there's no problem

Are you running spacers? As I couldn't see how anything smaller than 5x120 could fit on the drive flanges.

I was going to go for spacers for ease, but the M5 wheels have such a mental Offset, that it'd of looked silly with an extra 30mm on there.

no but mine is mk5 front and a non transit rear axle under a mk2 body you do right not going for spacers - like you say the offset is a problem on the mk6 's some people have done a good job with spacers but the deeper the dish on the wheel the better it looks - also the geometry on the front is better without spacers

My next thing to look into will be a mild lowering kit of some sort.
Don't fancy the spring under axle mod much, for obvious reasons.
Re-profiling the rear springs, may be an option, but I think I will just mod the stub axle mountings, and move them up an inch or so.
Will see how the 18"s fit first.
