It's all setup on a jig, but pop off the circlip and move the actuator rod. It should feel really loose and move easy. Those electronic actuator boxes are known to fail.

Just had a lad rev van up while I look at the actuator it is moving up and down does seem to have a jerk on it rather than smoothly up, is that normal? I would try taking the circlip off but I've got the touch of a rapist

 i found him quite gentle :o
Make sure the arm isn't catching on rust first, we had 1 that failed the turbo test:-(
Maybe spray some wd on the actuator linkage to prove it isn't that which is sticky.
You do need to remove the checkup to check the vnt, next is the actuator, ids diagnostic turbo test will be best i think.

Linkage seems pretty free, it's a working van so I'm literally lookin at it on my dinner, seems a lot of people have had the same symptoms problem is as soon as they've solved it they don't post the solution!! So I just read symptoms but no cure selfish if you ask me

Well I'm working garage next week so while I'm working he's going to have a look I'll be sure to post the solution to my problem, just another little thing I've noticed, at first when I start the van some times it sounds like a whooshing noise and the van drives fine while this is happening, like it's sucking in more air??

Belly had over/under boost error codes and it was the electronic actuator. As stated earlier, if the VNT is moving freely (you will need to take that circlip off), then likely to be actuator....

It won't matter as long as you separate them to allow you to move the vnt although you are probably best to undo that 1.

Should be back to front circlips, maybe get it with a small flat blade screwdriver, it is fiddly :-(

Don't have any sorry, could check ebay?, it may be possible to undo the 3 10 mm bolts that hold the actuator back plate on but you may end up getting angry and smashing the place up lol
