Auscharlo wrote:Thanks very much, we try hard to keep them looking good and True mate they did, my old fella was out in Abu Dhabi in 72 they had D9's with start engine and run engine, we have a customers' with D11"s now. 20 years since I finished my apprenticeship and I don't think it's a van problem, it's a Ford Australia one, Last week all agreed to send parts, this week mind is changed, want more pictures.. Get this on a 12mth old van. they want me to clean the dust and oil off the burst shocks and take pictures, will look just like a new shock! Then they will say there is nothing wrong from the photo's, or the extra weight of the spotlights caused it. They used to have a service agent in the town but he was more than useless, on my driveway is a van they put the wrong chassis number into IDS and all the ecu's are now security locked out. Nobody anywhere in the Ford world wants to talk to me about that and apparently it can't be reversed, waiting for Andy to sort out a mtdi pump for it. There is no customer service in the motor industry out here, every dealer is nice till you pay for it then ...... " well you bought it, warranty- don't swear in my office " Heaven help you if you have an electronic issue, might as well put on a truck and send it to the nearest big city. Rio Tinto were putting their new Ford Ranger pick ups and sending them to Perth (1600km) to get warranty work, as Ford's back up service is so bad. When I first saw the shocks leaking- last November, I emailed the photo's to the local dealer and to the dealer on the east coast who I purchased it off. Guess what? no reply from either of them. Think for the next one I will have to go to China and buy a brand new Mk3, still make them there!! The average Holden owner is so dumb he couldn't figure out how to open the bonnet- they still think it's an Australian car, All Holden did was work out how to put the American engine into an Opel!!!!!!!

My dad used to work on D8s and 9s back in late 70s not sure if he said if they had a donkey engine to start main engine.
Back in the room, think u get good and bad in everything. If our last van was a your 1st ford you would never buy another.
Would expect a van going to aus to have long range fuel tanks and maybe ford would have mobile fitting shops.
Maybe holden owners are sabotaging it.
