Update:

1 I took off the chain guard and inspection did not reveal anything unusual. All guides, sprockets and the tensioner intact and a little play in the chain. Also no deposit on the housing anywhere.

2 I have just removed the valve cover and inspected the camshaft and inspect the head. These had no visible damage and the frame was intact. But, I found a alu looking metal particle in the oil passage channel downwards, see photo, the part at the end of my torx screwdriver.. I do not know if this is a part that was left behind when milling this channel, it was a little bit stuck in the channel and when pushing it fell further down. Does anyone have an idea what this could be from in the cylinder head? Camshaft and valves etc. seem to be fine at first sight, undamaged.

I had done an oil flush before the work and then drove a short distance. Then I looked at the oil and found no 1mm aluminum parts but a lot of small, seemingly small particles in the oil: the oil shines with these minuscule particles when flowing on a dark background in the sun.
I still think that the problem is in the cylinder head and I plan to remove it and replace it. That is less work than replacing an engine. The oil pump has also been ruled out because there is sufficient pressure and the oil filter is after the pump and then the 1mm particles should be in the filter and not in the engine and the crankcase.

Suggestions are welcome!

Changed my moind. ik I saw on pictures at the internet similar manufacturing remains of metal pieces at the oil feed ports for loose cylinder heads. So I think that this piece at the oil port is not something from the valve body. Everything external that I see is in good condition, also the camshafts and the tappets etc. And for the rest there are no aluminum particles anywhere in the cylinder house. If it was there somewhere I would find an aluminum particle somewhere on the rough surface but nothing... so I replace the chain next weeekend and go for a ride and think about what else it could possibly be... the many very small particles in the oil worry me after the flush, somewhere something is wearing out or hitting something... but what or where remains the question.

Blades are also very good. So because it is open next weekend new chain and guides with tensioner. My concerns are still about those alu mixed up in my oil… thans Marks, if you get and ideas further on about the alu, let me know! Gr. Sander.

You're asking me to guess now ..

The only other place is the turbo ..seen lots of pics of them with bits of vanes missing.
As the air it compresses goes into the boost pipes,so i think it has a way in, as - booster pipes are connected to the lower engine and rocker cover by the breather system. we know that oil makes its way out of the engine into the booster pipes ..what's it do on the overun ???

or the turbo bearing themselves ..wearing making the non metallic titanium rotor vanes /impellor hit sides of housing .

other things that have been found in the sump of these transits are mangled bore oiler jets, (i think, this was the case -- poster never came back) after they had come out and collided with the pistons and rods

hey Mark, the turbo is intact because I looked at the blades when I replaced the vacuum pump at the intake. And also the play on the shaft was according to the mileage and it runs freely. And the overrun is great, I keep track with a 2024 Transit! Sometimes it goes into limp mode at heavy demanding overtakes like many other 125 tdci 2002-2005 transits and mondeos. New pump and injectors and all sensors also. After Limp mode restart ans it runs again. I think it is never solved this limp mode problem. I do indeed suspect loose oil channel remnants that have become loose and pulverized. Thanks for your suggestions.
