Mk 7 - Heater (A/C) version - no heat, vacuum ok

sounds about right, remove water hose and manually open valve from inside the pipe and put back on and try it for heat

Appears the valve is operating ok, took it off and the control actuator arm thingy changes the flow of water when I push it in manually. Seems there might be some heat passing through the pipes into the heater matrix when the vacuum is unplugged and the control arm is out but that doesnt translate to heat at the vents (nor when i twist the heat control dial does the control arm move in or out)

Heat inside the vehicle is controlled by the blend door actuator. (On the side of the heater unit accessed from the passenger doorbell)

Solenoid, without checking, I think is controlled by the selection of AC on/off and temp dial position.

be prepared for a shock when you see price of the blend door actuator, and they're like hens teeth trying to get second hand , there is a similar one in vw sharan /ford galaxy if you swap over the bit that turns
had to make a manual gizmo for a pals van and used old fashioned choke cable that locks when twisted instead of the actuator motor, was supposed to be until he found a used part but ended not bothering as the choke cable worked good enough and he was happy as cable only cost £9 lol

Many moons ago, I'm sure that someone on here found that the motor from something else (maybe VW Golf, or maybe it was the Sharan?) could be modded and used instead of the genuine item. It was one of our regulars at the time, but I'm struggling to remember who

Last time I got one, new was over a £100 if I mind right and second hand was about £50 by the time it was delivered.

I’ve taken the footwell covers off this long weekend. In the photo below the actuator arm doesn’t move when I turn the heat dial with engine on or off. It’s not the screen/cabin/footwell cable as that moves via another cable when I twist that dial. I’m presuming this arm should move to control the temp so my next consideration is whether the blend door is buggered or the solenoid (or both, or something else).

I think I read somewhere this blend door is electronically controlled in the AC version so maybe that arm is controlled by the blend door box and not the other way around.

Seems to be be two types of AC .. one with manual control one with motorised controls , you have the manual one ..
if you look at ebay and look at mk7 ac controls , you'll see ones with the centre dial having a plastic gear operated cable pull system

so i think you'll be pulling out the heater control panel and seeing what's bust .. whats going on... what needs re-attaching or what screw needs tightening or what needs adjustment

There are two kinds of heater controls on a Mk7.
One is for vans with AC and one for non AC.

Manual AC refers to the fact it is just a fan, a water valve and windows. And this has a manual set of controls with 2 cable controls

Vans with climate control AC have a pressurised condenser system and have a control with only a single cable.

His will have a single cable.
