ford transit 137ps engine problem

I can't see it being the hydraulic adjusters in all 16 rockers being faulty, and they should have been checked before the head was off.

Can you describe the exact concern with the idle perfomance?

A field engineer should have nailed this by now.

when the van is started cold it fires up and ticks over normally but when the van has been driven and normal temperature is reached the tick over becomes inconsistant. If you lift the bonnet with the engine running you can see the engine rocking randomly side to side. However the slightest touch of the accelerator pedal and it stops until the revs drop again and then of it goes again the van drives no problem its just when you come to a stand still it goes of on one.

got the van back today changing the hydrolic tappets did not work the field engineer has given up. I was told to run the van and take it back on thursday so a different field engineer can have a look at it.The van is just as it was when i took it in.

 well i am sorry to say you just cant beat the drive of a transit! they are the best to drive! the vw is not so nice attal i have drove them and the LT they are just not the same ,the new transit is the best ,and the 135ps is great so much power i have never known a van with power like it!
unfortunatly you have just got a bad one! if the van has a new engine it should be ok from then on! :)
