Up to you really, definitely easier with the engine out but for the extra time it takes to get the engine out, you can probably struggle and do it in the same time :)

theres a lot of oil from turbo so think the turbo seals have gone, would this have caused the damage to piston rings if oil has got to low?

We always get told that if there is piston/ring damage, its the injectors at fault, but that does look like lack of oil to me :?

got another tdci engine with no injectors or fuel rail, so swapped them over.
towed it to start it. still load injector knock and loads of white grey smoke.

what i'm thinking now is the turbo let oil out, engine speed and fuel that was injected didn;t match so damaged fuel rail senor :? any ideas :?: :

have been flat out with work, been using my mates 100 shr, a defender and a mondeo since vans off the road. just got chance to get injectors tested :!: :!:

no1. execissive leak back
no2. good
no3.no fuel delivery
no4.no fuel delivery

could the pump have killed the injectors which have then damaged the bores :?:

and could i have now done the same damage to the replacement engine :?:

Dont know if they are the same injectors, are the part no the same :?: (the 6c11 etc number)

Easy way to test the pump is to take a fuel sample from the pump return pipe and check it for swarf

theres no swarf at all . is there any way 1 injector could damage the others :?:

think i maybe better off saving for a 2.2 155ps engine rather than the 3-400 its going to cost for recon injectors.

I cant see how 1 being faulty can affect the rest, but speaking from experience, once 1 is replaced the rest get jealous and start playing up :!:

if i had 3 scored bores and 3 faulty injectors is it likely just the injectors.
when you said before that rings are usually caused by injectors is that whewn they put far to much fuel in :?:

I would have thought so, as I understand it, if the injectors are overfuelling then it washes the oil off the bores and ends up with big scars like you got :!:
