as youve allready got more power to weight than standard it shouldn't kill your acceleration.

i've just bought a 6 speed mondeo box for my van :!: :!: i can't wait to see the difference, and if it kills my accceleration, i'll just have to get the power up to match.

check this web site you can put ya details in to check speed... i put mine in and at 4500 van should do like 120mph

thats a good link

at 4000 my 125 tdci with 4.53 gearbox and 16'' rims will do 111mph (which is what it shows on speedo aswell)

but if i put original 15'' on it would lose 12mph @ 4000 (and my speedo use to be out by 10mph :!: :!: with 15''s on)

but if it had 15''s on

Any idea what the axle ratio currently is on an original Transit 2009, Duratorq TDCI 2.4 (100PS)?

Would this pull suitably with a 3.73 ratio axle - only be carrying 6 people and luggage?

Have a search for you vehicle on the Ford Etis sight. Put the Reg No or VIN in the Vehicle Search dropdown box.

You'll need to register to see all the As Built info.

If you registered it should come up in vehicle search in the "primary features" section

Thanks Jim,
It’s a 5.11 axle.

Now, would the whole rig need changing or could the internal components be swapped?

Have a chance of getting a 3.58 axle. Hmm, unsure I'd have enough pulling power. Could somebody confirm?

Methinks she may struggle a bit with a 3.58....especially with a load on. A mapped 140 will get away with it easily.

Just changed my axle to a 3.73 and the van drives so much better.
My van is 100ps fully loaded campervan just over 3.25 ton.
The only problem I have had is getting onto leveling ramps but reversing onto them works fine.

Thanks, that's positive news.

Can axle ratios be established from chassis numbers?

Not directly afaik.
But you can put in that vin no. Or reg. into Ford Etis and it'll tell you what it came out the factory with.
