Only with A/C.
What Mk, and has it got A/C? With A/C, temperature selection is controlled by stepper motor on blend door, and these can stop working, sticking on last position regardless of temperature selector knob.

mk7 and no air con,

whys it weird one, the stat and rad are working correctly, :?:

if both top and bottom were same temp it would show water pump is working but stat fully open, its not that.

if it over heated and blowers work and rad is cold, it would show main stat stuck shut, its not that

if it didnt over heat, flow through rad was ok, dont have circulation of water through blowers, it means............................ stat is working ok and cooling is working by gravity through rad but water pump isnt working fully

so do you suggest bang a new water pump on it???

MK 7 With Air Con My Heater blows cold for up to 1/2 hour first time in the day, the engine temperature is normal and if you turn the blower on and change it from cold to hot you can hear the flap changing the air
After the varied time it goes suddenly hot and is fine for the rest of the day i can change it from hot to cold and it works fine
i did check the pipes to the heater and they were only Luke warm is there anything that could stop the water flow to the heater.
Thanks winter will soon be here brrrrrrrrrr

This got to be due a resurrection so here it is

Got similar issue. Engine gets up to temp, console knobs don't work but they do turn directly on the heater box in driver's footwell. Srill onlt blows cold.

What are the two pipes winter mentions to check to see if circulation is actually taking place? The two at rad, one going to it which gets hot when engine up to temp and stat opens and the one leaving rad?

If both hot I have circulation yes?

Do you have A/C..?? If so, your blend door actuator may not be well ...or the vacuum powered heater tap is faulty..
