The proof will be in the driving of course , let us know how it goes... they must have some good knowledge to be checking the module out etc - are they a bosch service centre ?

apperently the pcm just tells the fuel pump module when key is matched and when to fire fuel via crankshaft reading and cht reading , and the module on pump does the rest for calculating the correct pulses going to metering solonoid. :?:
is this all correct. :?:
if so the pump cannot alter the fuelling for what injectors its feeding 75/85/90/100ps so does the pump come ready for the right power output or does another signal get to pump module from PCM when pump coding and marrying. :?:

Hi transit fanatic very greatful for your pic & info , can you advise me on installation of new reg ie has it got to be fixed in a certain position in the pump , or can it be screwed in in roughly the same position as previous one came out & does it matter which way round the wires go ?
many thanks tom

it can only go in certain position as the cap is tear drop shaped and has to fit between injector pipes, youll see what i mean.

the wires can go either way.

most awkard part is getting fuel back through pump to injectors if you dont have the priming pump on the filter housing.

ive left the solonoid with sealant all this time so hopefully, it will be ok when i next need one :?:

Thanks to your tutorial i might try fixing this old one with sikaflex. The sealer in the old solonoid looks indentical to it as regards texture, hardness and rigidness but just wondering was the sealer the problem or did an internal seal give up

thats what i thought at first but, would of thought if the sealant was to just stop water ingress, they would have used a simple oring with a locking cap :?: it looks as if the sealant is piled in to stop fuel :?: :?: :?
not sure wether the fuel that the solonoid controls is just low pressure fuel going to high pressure chamber inside pump.

well theres only one way to find out buddy "GET THAT SIKOFLEX OUT!". I will try it on the old one but i will have to wait for another van in the yard to have same problem before i can post back about it and that might take forever

Has anyone done a fix of the metering solenoid that worked yet?

You guys are gods! I think I'm suffering from a similar fuel leak problem on my 52 plate T260 SWB Mk6 Transit. The problem is I don't have the luxury of bosch specialists, e-bay, Ford Service Centers with above apprentice level of experience , or access to a decent spare parts stockist (used or new). Add to that some otherwise very competent mechanics that just don't go anywhere near anything involving computers and engine management systems and you'll see I'm a bit fooked. The reason is I and my leaking transit are in Montenegro in the former Yugoslavia.

Bottom line is - If I do have the same problem then this bodge has got to work. I'll post a new thread with full details and some of my questions and come back and add a link here. I'd be grateful if contributors to this thread could take a look at this new post once it's up. Thanks in advance.

i done one 2 weeks ago, first put a bit of SIROFLEX on looks like a copy of Sika flex, left it a week, then finished it off and put cap on with engineers black silicon, so far been ok.
but did a bit of research before and found some sealant from SIKA that says its resistant to jet fuel

http://www.aquamerik.com/catalogue/prod ... sif&lg=eng

thing is bosch must use something from the likes of SIKa ORIGINALLY.
Also noticed the newer Vp30 pumps have grey sealant on the metering solonoid, they must have changed sealant.

nice one m8 never got around to trying mine with sikoflex but you have patented it now. We all know where to send our solonoids now to get fixed for FREE!
Maybe to be fair we should pay you for materials, hows that :D

hey guys,
can this bodge job be done with the solenoid in situe, ie still attatched to the pump or would it be better to take the solenoid off? if the latter is the better, then how do you get the cap off and then the solenoid out?
wanna get cracking early tomorrow morning.

For reasons outlined another post once I've got answers to some issues a bit unique to my location I'll be trying this solution using sikoflex - One thing about Montenegro is the number of boats on the coast and as far as I can tell, sikoflex is the Montengrin equivalent to gaffer tape in the boating world here.

Would be grateful if you could follow my other post and chip in with any thoughts as appropriate. Much appreciated.
