Mines a 90 350 Medium roof MWB it has a racking system plus tools so I think most of the time it could be considered as having a light load.
Over the last 4 tankfulls the light has come on (after filling to the top) at 372 miles as I have mentioned before it has a roof rack and the air-con has been on all the time over the last 4 tankfulls. Like yours mine goes up through the gears well and theres no need to rev the nuts off it going up through the box in fact theres a spot where you reach the max torque and theres no point revving beyond on motorways I keep below 70 but it is willing to go way beyond that if I push the throttle down. This last time I filled with Shell diesel and will post the mileage when the light comes on. It does sound like you may have a limitter or a low ratio rear diff but I'm no expert.

Going back to the power problems I've uncovered something really odd.

I'm starting to notice that the levels of power vary on a single journey.

Departed from the motorway this morning onto to some side roads and it was pulling strong through the gears... like never before, slowed down for a round about, booted it again and the power arrived briefly and then dies off as I expect normally:( . The fluctuations seem to occuring more often now.

What on earth is afoot here?????

NightHawk.. you seem to know your onions dude. Any suggestions as to what's happening with my Tranny.
Cheers

Could anything have got in the tank? Like some practical joker could have stuffed a small ball or something in as a prank? I know these sound wild ideas but if nobody can explain a mechanical problem it may be as well to persue the more wierd and wonderful.

thinking about it, how can anyone say bluefin is expensive ? think back a few years - to get that sort of power increase you'd have to buy twin dcoe webers on a manifold, high lift camshaft, 4 branch exhaust & possibly a big valve head. the carbs alone would cost the same as a bluefin not mention the labour & setting up on a rolling road !! i think we have things alot easier nowdays !!

Check the intercooler pipe - no splits, crack visible.

I am definitley convinced I have a problem - I was behind a 85 T240 today and he left me for dead 70mph upwards... mine would not exceed 85!

Power in the low gear came alive again today (only at lower speed) and was truely impressed and a second later it went back to brief boost them flat spot.

Garage visit looking more like an option now.
Cheers

yep, i will get it booked in somewhere.

it's more apparent now what is happening. If I turn it off, leave for a few mins, turn it back on and go for a drive it is superb. Even managed to get it upto 90mpg no issue before. However during driving something happens and the power drops off to flat mode.

Does anyone know any reputable diesel specialists on Merseyside?

okay folks,

for those watching this thread I have some answers.

just got the van back today from a local diesel specialist who has been able to execute some diagnostics.

three codes were reported:

2 fuel pump errors (ECM and timing)
1 immobiliser error.

the codes have been cleared and i will go back to the workshop next week to see which codes have returned.

from what i've been advised the fuel pump is shafted and I've been quoted a grand total of £1800 for the pump excluding labour to fit!

at that price I'll have to live with the problems....

Bummer
:(
Cheers
