klicked it away and it seams to of installed ok, but then struggeled when trying to shut down to reboot :?

anyway just added the 86.04 and got the same error ?
jusr realised i didnt set compatability to xp sp3 though did do it as admin
might try changing compatability and see how we go, also it said it failed to install the bosch interface but neet to check that.

got the disk but loading it from my stored files. not used the disks since the first install when i got them

loot wrote:I paid someone to do mine, mine is a slightly older vcm2 so the serial change only works until I think v98. I know v99 doesn't allow access to pcm and that's because it knows the vcm has different chips in.

Anyway the guy made an exe file that changes the pc time and date to the install date and also starts vmware. It reverts the pc date to correct when I close vmware. May be a cab file?

You can manually set the time and date and turn off auto update time and network time in control panel. You have to majestic sure you set the date to the install date every time, then you'll have 3 days trial on ids, but with vmware it can be reset each time with snapshot and it purges any remnant reg keys etc unlike native.

But if you Google the latest info because there may be a patch or simple method available. Until I buy a newer vcm I don't need to know :(

Here a complete answer on how to solve the 3-day license problem in 3 optional methods

Hi im having a problem getting V86 to work properly, it keeps giving me an error saying 'software and database do not match' and to reinstall IDS.

Im running it on a winXP SP3 virtual machine, using only files from Loot's signature, the V86 web installer, then the licence then the V86.4 update in that order. Allowed V86 to update during installation ect. spent literally days trying to get this and other versions of IDS to run and I keep hitting different problems, any ideas?

I run mine on w7 service pack 1.

V86 shut down
V86 patch as admin.(hq clone, bottom option when asked)

V86.04 shut down.
V86 patch again.

Xprog extracted to desktop then run as admin.

Then run ids. Luff the vcm in and if you've run a later ids it will mean that the vcm needs to be reset.

To do this unplug all the cables and remove the black end cap, on 1 side you'll see the red tab. Hold that in and connect the usb cable and wait for the Beep, then release the button. That wipes the vcm and then ids will install v86 firmware.

Next you'll need to be online for the vcm to look for updates to any vehicle you have connected.

You can download and install calibrations that is c81 which gives you all vehicles to match 2011 about 3.5gb

That has a good last update for the mk7 and means no online requirement.

If you've got fluffed installs on the laptop then I suggest wiping the os and install w7sps1

All run as admin.

86 then patch
Restart
86.04 & patch
Restart
Xprog
Restart.

Thanks both of you, I followed your steps loot and it looks like everything is working except ids cant communicate with the vcm2 clone. Tried doing a hardware reset like you suggested but it didnt work, upon opening the case i found the button wasnt actually connected to anything on the motherboard. I also tried downgrading the firmware by using an older version of the bosch software/vci manager but it cant connect to the vcm2.

I think when i first tried to get it all working with software that came with the clone I allowed the devices firmware to update, which was obviously a mistake, about given up now, thanks for the help

If your buttons gone just get a small piece of tinfoil and hold it where button should be then plug in the cable.
It hopefully will contact the pads that are left on the board to let you reset it

This must be a different model of board, I mean there is absolutely nothing where the button on the board would normally be. Looks like they just took the same case and slapped a different board inside.

Is there anyone near northwest england that would mind me bringing the van over to plug into their IDS? there are two proceedures I want to do that just require the IDS plugging in, nothing needs doing physically. Just a clutch bleed and a clutch relearn (auto box mk6) which the van can do itself internally, just needs instructing to do it with IDS.

I'm north Wales near Chester.

But you might struggle to connect the vcm2 and do it, i think vcm1 is best for mk6, although I really don't know if a vcm2 clone will or won't work.

I guess you'd need to try and see.

If there was a button floating around in the case then it would of been attached. The contacts Rupp off with the switch but there may be just enough of a rag left where it is milder into the board to make contact with.

Is Preston closer to Manchester? If so contact karl, he's more experienced with the mk6.
I can try but I think Karl might be easier. 8)
