I wanted a cat 1 alarm when I ordered mine, but got told I couldn't have it because I've got opening rear side windows. I was also informed that you can't have rear heating with the Limited option, there are some strange quirks in the build process which defy logic. Another being that having a single passenger seat means you have to have a passenger air bag at extra cost, so why not factor it into the price? Then there is no facility to disable it, not a problem for me but it could be if anyone wanted to fit a child seat!

I've got the Cobra cat1 alarm Rob, no reason that it couldn't be fitted to your van from what I can see.

I understand that it turns off if you unlock the van with a 'key'.

He did say that, but we tried it in his van, and found that you activated an entry delay bleeper when entering with a key, but I can't quite remember how we cancelled the delay before the alarm went off a few seconds later

All the factory alarms I have had on vehicles, on my Range Rover, Discovery, Mondeo, and the current Focus will go of if you open the door using the key, and are cancelled by turning on the ignition

Yes, that's what happened when we tried it, if you unlocked and opened the drivers door, you had a few seconds of bleeping before the proper alarm went off, just like the access delay on a house/shop alarm. I now seem to remember, (reading what happened on Harry the Lime) that you had to insert and turn the correct chipped key in the ignition to cancel the alarm.

If you opened any other door apart from the drivers, the alarm sounded straight away 8)

Fixed the selector, washed it and made a attempt to sand down my wheels to paint.

Gave up on the wheels after 10 minutes cos I was bored an ordered mk7 trims on eBay.

Then spent 20 minutes trying to find a ninja's mask off the wee mans Lego man which I eventually found in his car seat that I had taken out the van.

Its Damn tricky to spot a ninja in a transit!
