Sounds like your ids is fine and it is connecting to the PC, go to green arrows and look at the relevant connection-middle is USB, see if it says connected (van ignition on) or available, if available then click on it to see if it connects.

Yup, does all that and status is "connected" in a green background

loot wrote:Also if there is a suspect connection go to device manager and look for a USB device that has an address or looks like a network card or something.

No nothing

loot wrote:So your ids is either connecting to the van and doesn't know what it is or Oort can't read the pcm.

I presume that you connect it to the van and you are not identifying the van at this stage? Usually ids will see that it is tdci /wf0xxxttffx.........
Confirm......
Etc.
Yours is just saying no pcm identifier yes?

There has been instances that the USB cable has been faulty so I recommend that you replace it to check, and/or you connect ids to another vehicle to make sure it works.
:-)

Yes tried connecting to the van once I got the green arrows and status "connected", turned ignition on and waited expecting it to prompt me for something, but nothing. So when I tried to "start new session" I got the PCM unrecognised message.
Presuming that the USB must be OK if the VCM is seen by IDS :?:
Don't have another Ford at present, but will seeif I can get access to one to try it. :?
Thanks Mate really appreciate this help :)

Hi Loot,
A silly question if I may....I was fumbling around with IDS and was going to do the PCM update, no major dramas I thought, so I went to "re-programming" and it came up with a later PCM update file, (6C11-12K532-ABH), which I have on my system. Again no issue...as I started, the system said my battery voltage was too low....I was a tad confused. So using my "live data" readout I checked the battery with engine running and without, I had 14.36v and 13.0v respectively....again this had me more than a little confused, so I tried the PCM re-program again...and again it said my battery voltage was too low...needless to say I "aborted" the process.

The batteries were replaced a month or two ago with a pair of nice big 720CCA jobbies, and the alternator appears to be working as it should....so there's plenty of grunt available.

Do you have any clues for a hapless Aussie???

Give it a run and start a new session then go into reprogramming and see, some very rare occasions and reasons ids can get the voltage wrong.
You need 11.60v when it checks but you should have 12.20 or something like that showing because the reprogram can suck your juice.
New batteries that you have is good because they'll hold the charge better.

I sometimes cheat on mine because the batteries are new wish.

I have the engine running until it does the voltage check and it shows 14+v  then it says turn ignition off while doing the process so that works out well.
Engine on check voltage, ignition off (program check) ignition on (to lights) continues the programming til done then ignition off.

PS. If it works you'll lose your remap :-(
It means that either the remap was done while not updating your pcm calibration ( :? sh*t remapper IMO) or you've got a later calibration since the remap was done. Are you using your v81 calibrations or a later 1 from the web?

Thanks muchly my good Sir...I'll give that a go when I get a chance....Re-map isn't an issue, I "know" someone who does them... Not real worried about it TBH...as long as the beast is running nicely and getting decent mileage I'm more than happy.

I'm using the V81 calibrations.

BTW...I see you've got a bit of a stutter...

St Stutter?

If you have v81 calibrations and the remap is based on v81 calibrations then ids won't give you an update. Well atleast that's what mine has done anyway.

Ah...I don't know if the re-map was based on V81 cals....the IDS tells me the what the old/original cal file is and also tells me what the new cal file is/should be...so I can only assume the remap wasn't based on the V81 cals...very strange indeed :?

No major dramas though, I'll get it sorted eventually. It's not like I'm stuck with a non-runner, she still runs ok. I just like to play around with things a bit to see if I'm getting the best out of what I have.... and have it configured the way I want it.

Hello

I have small problem in ids. I have version v91 and v94 tested whit my hq clone vcm2.

In version everything works, but no the module programming. Yes i have installed the module programming etc. But when i start the programming, the ids told too low voltage. And there are only 0v on screen? Even the batteries are in charge.

V94 wont connect in my carr at all?

And when i tryed to v86. All other works fine, but the module programming wont even start :x
