Silly Q, but will this work on a mk 6? Some really nicely documented work here, and it looks easy enough, but I don't have a mk7!
Would love to fit some cheap cruise control for the van. Would make bliss of the long days of driving.

We loved it so much, we have just purchased a Mk7 LWB high roof Transit to do some staycationing!

Loot, have you thought about providing a service fitting cruise control and other things that you've done.

I'm sure there's many people who want to do this but are to scared.

There's always mechanic type jobs i can do but i don't have time :-(
Ppl who i talk to and do a few jobs always ask why i don't have my own garage, my reply, I'd go bust in a week with my rates

Hy there.

Im From Germany and searched a way to add factory cruise control to my mk7 from 12/2006.
I´ve found the Vantuner site. I got everything i need. I pluged the switches on steereing wheel, Harnes is still there. I bought a new BCM "C" marked. now i only need somebody who can aktivate it for me.
today i wrote to Martin from vantuners, he said he wont do this. He was my only knowen possibility.

Did any body know someone else who can do this? :?:
M y local ford dealers are all the same; "it wont work" "it wont work when you dont have the key to the new BCM" and something like this.

Or are there any other ways? Ford Etis can do this only when the rules (company made) allow it.
Vantuner Software will crack this Rules and allow to program whats possible from ford, didn´t?
is it really that hard?
I life near a VW Concern. to that cars is nearly everything possible to program.

Someone out there who can help?

Was thinking the other day that when it's dark you can't see the cruise buttons :?

Or is it just my wheel that's dodgy :?:

Come on Loot, surely that would be right up your street to sort out

No lights on the buttons, there's a spare terminal pin on the squib and if you are brave enough you have 2 more on the 2nd airbag pins (unused in ours)
You could add 12v if brave enough, or possibly 2v if that will power some small smd leds(possible mod of resistors)

Then you need to skim the back of the buttons enough to show light through the white paint.
That should do it :-)
I've got the mk4 Mondeo steering wheel that has illuminated buttons but it is a lot of work building the resistance ladder for cruise on the switches to copy the transit button switches (on pcb possibly going to make some myself when i have time)

I got the wheel fitted ages ago with the cruise buttons, but I couldn't find the socket on the clock spring cassette to plug the button loom into? Do I need an updated clock spring cassette from a model with cruise?

No just unplug the non cruise connector/wheel then fit new wheel and plug buttons plug in, it's the same but has 2 more wires on the connector but the same connector as original :-)

Well it's 10 pounds an hour in my head but i end up with much less when members come round
Not 1 person has brought biscuits though
I have thought about the buttons and I've decided that shining a light through the top/white bit and using a dremel under side it should be possible to file away till you see light, then maybe some hot glue to strengthen it when finished and all is good, only thought tho is if there are tubes under there to press the buttons, in which case........ F*ck
I'll have to have a see :-)
