Hardest bit is getting light through the plastic buttons lol wiring should be straight forward :-)

Would it be easier to paint the buttons with ultraviolet reactive paint and have a UV light source in the headlining above the steering wheel?

I'm looking at putting opaque plastic bits on top of the buttons and lighting them through a hole in the button.
Not sure about uv lights tbh, shows up all the dandruff

Hey loot,

Took of my surround today to look at the bottom squib, and this is what I have 6 wires.

Is this correct mate :)

Sweet :-)
2 for airbag, 2 for cruise control and 2 for horn :-)
This suggests you have high spec loom which should include the indicator stalk connector and radio controller connector.
Check your bcm ends in c* if it does then you only need stalk, and steering wheel then activated. 8)

Yes mate, I have the high spec clocks (red line) with outside temp working from factory, I have the Yellow/Red warnings for temp @ 4.0c/below zero (bloody pain it is haha)

Also have the indicator stalk with full clock controls (reset MPG, Ave speed, Range in tank, Wake up alarm etc)
I also have the radio controller stalk (Dont use std ford stereo tho as have a DNX9240bt in its place but still full control with the stalk with adapter :)

I have the CD bcm and the DJ loom also.

Now, once I pick up the wheel and get it fitted, I will reset the SAS as its a focus estate cruise wheel (VCM is down for Thurs delivery fingers xd)

How do I go about getting the file from vantuner? Do I have to spec what my van already has installed? and can the file be mailed to me and installed with my vcm? as im about 5 hours from him lol

Im probably a lot closer to you looking at your location

Right I'm back on the Mondeo mk4 steering wheel :-) I've sussed the buttons.
Few ideas floated about as to how do i get all the buttons to function.
I thought of a remote transmitter in the wheel and soldering all the buttons to it which controls a pcb which has multiple relays and at each relay a suitable resistor that is linked to each button on the cruise and also the radio.
I got a 15 way transmitter and receiver from China but unfortunately i couldn't get it to work momentarily :-( they said it was broken and gave me partial refund3 back, i can still use it but not for this, basically i can press the button to turn the relay on then press again to turn the relays off.
Fun for lots of things i think but that's later :-)

Next idea was to link the cruise wires to the 2 sets of buttons in series to reproduce a 3 way resistance ladder, but i was getting the wrong feedback.
Next idea was the above but a circuit that i could connect to and program it to give a resistance output that i choose from a resistance input from the 3 way resistance ladder, but my searches have come up with more problems :-(
Final idea is to modify the cmax cruise buttons into the Mondeo buttons and have the leds working, I'm using fine copper wire that is coated in insulation.
That's cruise sorted :-)

Next is i linked the 2 sets of switches wires in different arrangements and metered them and blow me I'm getting readings on them all :-)

So what do we have, 2 wires for cruise, 2 wires for the other switches and 2 wires for leds:-)
Problem, there's 5 available wires on my squib :-(

Idea, i wonder if i can use the horn negative to go to the leds negative? (Shared) or would the horn go off when i turn the lights on?

Next problem is, i know the radio buttons on the Mondeo wheel will give incorrect ohms resistance to standard Ford stereo but i have an aftermarket stereo which i program the buttons in so I'm hoping that it'll work.

Bit of trialling but i hate the radio control on the column, it gets in my way when I'm indicating sometimes and i can never remember the damn buttons :-(
Old picture.

You're the man Mate :!: You're definitely in the wrong job, you should be working for IBM :D

By the way, I see I'm not the only one that has ditched the folding picnic table top for a side by side DIN, what's going in the other side :?:

hi in the middle of installing the cruise to my transit. got the wheel on and the bcm but just want to double check what terminals the 2 new cruise wires have to go in at the bcm and the corresponding ones under the steering wheel. once i have this figured out i can then finally book in with vantuner to get it activated
thanks shaun

Right in the beginning mate but here.

4. plugging your wires in to the sqib and bcm.
pin outs are:- clockspring C1 pin 4(scm return)original orangeyellow to bcm C6 pin 40(speed control ground.

pin 5(scmsignal)original orange to bcm C6 pin 26 (speed control signal.

bcm connector, lift flap at the side and slide out green connector, below you can see th pin 26 and 40.
