But the rest is great.

I bought a pair of USB sockets with a green backlight that sort of matches the speedo etc and they have an on/off switch too, I found a shorter cable for the wireless phone mount so will swap that out when I next have time to do it. Despite having a four day weekend, we're flying to Glasgow to see Brad n Janet.

I cut the wire holding up the spare wheel. It had a nasty kink in it and wasn't working. Be interested to know how the wire got so badly damaged... It was thick braided steel and somehow half snapped. Anyway the spare is in the back now and not dangling and banging under the van. It looks like it's been under there 20 years since the van was made. I wander is theres a way of telling the age of the tyre? It looks brand new but it's been there since I got the van 10 years ago.
Anyway I gave her a hoover out in the back, checked the oil and I recon she's good for another 10. But of surface rust underneath I want to clean off and seal up. Had enough of the poxy MOT station welders. Have done £800 on welding for the last two MOTs. b*stards. There we go tho. She's never let me down so not getting rid of her.

From the Michelin website:-

The tyre date code appears in the DOT (Department Of Transportation) field, where other tyre markings are present.
The first codes are for the US market requirements. The date code appears at the end, with four numbers.
The first two numbers designate the week and the last two numbers, the year of production.

So, look for the word 'DOT' on the sidewall, down near to the bead, and the date code is the last four digits on the string of characters after the word

I fitted a second battery under the drivers seat and had a Redarc safety switch and the necessary cabling installed including an Anderson plug outlet.

I now have a a Bushman Traveler fridge/freezer between the seats :Image

I'm about to fit new Sway Bar End Links. My local Fraud dealership lists them as " Obsolete " Fortunately Ford Transit Parts at Southport, Queensland had genuine items in stock, made in merry old Istanbul and they arrived promptly this morning.

The original items look shagged and feel quite loose. I'm hoping this fixes the piss boiling rattle the van has.

Just lately it's had new glow plugs, a remap, new engine mounts, coolant change, EGR delete ( I did the first oil change since that was done, WOW what a difference ) new brakes on all four corners and a fairly pricey Pioneer head unit. The one that sticks out from the dash. Android and all that guff. It's $1100 fine ( about 570 quid, yeah? ) if you touch your phone in anyway here. There's gantry cameras everywhere to catch you at it. That and the bigger screen for navigation were the main reasons it's there.

Oh and the dual battery set up with safety switch ( it disconnects the front battery that runs me fridge freezer when the motor's not running and also cuts out when it reaches a certain voltage. I have 2 x 80 amp batteries, I think... The fridge will run for about a day and a half on the battery alone. If I drive every day even like to the shops or something I can leave it run full time. I currently don't so I turn it off. But if I was going somewhere, I can turn it on the night before or even just crack it to minus 16 and in an hour or so I could wind it back to minus 5 and keep drinks, water and food cool. Which is nice. It fits between the seats like it was made for the job. I don't really require a big fridge that'd have to go in the back because it's not a camper. I can use it as such but I can also haul my bikes or whatever at a moments notice.

New genuine end links came with no nuts. Fine thread versus coarse on the old ones = old nuts no fit.

Put car back together, drive to nut and bolt shop, obtain correct nuts. Fitting now..

Bloody...

Nah they're 18s but not ford sport wheels hence me laughing.

New custom sport wheels are 17s though 8)

Using my free windscreen every year clause in my insurance policy for the first time in 12 years. I have 4 big cracks ranging from 4 to about 16 inches long and a couple of big star chips.
They suckered me for a pair of Bosch Hi Performance wiper assembly's but what the Hell the screen is free. Saturday Morning 8:00am Booked in.

Do you not have to pay an access for the screen?

Messing with van insurance quotes since reading Martin Lewis saying that insurance will double.

So my van will be 2.4 140ps rwd. 6 seats,(3 added in the back) alloy wheels added not standard. Full body kit, extra windows added.

Goes from standard £395 to added above £505. Which I think is furry muff really.

No, I had it done this morning and all I paid for was the Bosch " High Performance " wipers.

I must say I'm glad I got the wipers, who wouldn't on a new screen? But they're those aero looking wider ones and the attachment system is better than utter crap set up I had previously.
