Checking the other filters showed them to be virtually mint, but I will change the oil in the next day or so, weather permitting.

Sadly, whilst poking around in the engine bay, it would seem that the injector seals are leaking again, and all of the injector recesses are awash with dieselly spooge. I'm hoping that the injectors won't put up a fight like last time I had to remove them   :P

I've just done all that on my van, steals weren't leaking but rocker gasket is suspect. Have you got a seat face cutter tool Al? I did 10 gentle rotations each then compressed air blown into them clears all the gunk.

Also a spot of grease on the copper washer if it looks like it wants to come off the injector it may fall off inserting the injector :|

I didn't check the rocker gasket, but No4 injector was bubbling up through the spooge. The leak isn't bad because it's not making a tappy noise like last time, but the engine is getting oily on the front end, and dripping a bit on the driveway, which it has never done before :(

Undo the breather that goes into the rocker and blow down it just to confirm that the filter isn't clogged as it can raid pressure in there also. Did you take the oil cap off while running to see if it is chuffing ?

Thought I'd replace my clutch and brake pedal rubbers. Quick look on ebay, about 2.50 each, or genuine, 45+ each
What f** planet are they on? Please tell me

Bought this, after ripping the aftermarket laserline alarm out of the van.

And just saw 2 magpies fighting over a rat the same size on my fence then 1 flew off with it.

Today the replacement fuel rail return hose set up got delivered - this was ordered on Amazon prime yesterday, thank goodness for next day delivery. I was replacing the fuel injector seals, there are 3 per injector, one thick copper washer which seals the injector into the cylinder head, one large rubber seal which stops crud going into the cam cover and a very small o-ring which fits into the fuel return pipe (this is clipped into the top of the injector). Upon re-installation the fuel return pipe broke off as I tried to re-insert it into the injector. Over time plastics become brittle with the hot and cold cycles of the engine, the van is 10 years old and has only done 90,000 miles.

Replacing all of these seals is easy enough with care and a certain amount of insight. The clamp bolt I'm assuming is supposed to be replaced when after you remove it but the seal kit I got from eBay had the wrong length bolts so I had to re-use the old ones. Once the clamp bolt is removed the injectors can be wiggled free with a little force. Be aware of the copper washers on the end of the injector, if they are missing then they are stuck to the head and will need careful removal. To avoid the new copper washers falling off when you re-insert the injector, i used a small dab of Loctite to hold it in place. Before you re-insert the injectors, vacuum the area around the top rubber seal to avoid debris getting inside the engine, then replace the rubber seal. These will be hardened from years of service and will take a bit of persuading to remove - a blunt screwdriver works well.

Anyway, when I tried to re-install the fuel return fitting (on the pippe), it snapped and this was probably due to the new o-ring being much thicker that the original - again I was let down by the set from eBay, you need new green o-rings but the ones that came with the kit I got were the wrong szie (see photo) I ended up buying a new fuel return kit with hoses from Amazon for £27, certainly worth it and it fitted perfectly and all is well again. The van appears quieter and smoother now

Had some welding done and the underbody treated recently so while the van was stripped I spend the day cleaning up the floor. Got all the glue cleaned, sorted a few spots of surface rust and then painted the floor. Needs another coat tomorrow but I’m surprised my little Dewalt drill did t catch fire with all the wire brushing it was doing today.
