The LEDs sit in a white reflector made of plastic, my thought was to leave the ford ones alone, and add the new ones by drilling into the side of the reflector, but I would imagine light pattern may be suspect. In the end I've added a pair of LEDs to the back if the steering cowl, lights up the white dials, but not perfected yet. Started with blue led, now white ones.

I'm hoping I'll have my clocks soon, have emailed lockwood asking if they can do the disks with the correct green bands on the rev counter for pre 2010 clocks, it's beyond me why they don't seem to.
I take it you have had your clocks apart? Is there much room in there? You not considered making some ribbon with leds on to go in there? I'm torn between red and blue for mine, also i was thinking of a Ford badge below where the lcd is but now I'm thinking of this.

Obviously the right size etc.

Hey just saw these for the leds for the screen.

Easy to take out, but I couldn't get the needles off, and that's a problem if you want to go deep into it. I just gave up as I didn't want to risk busting it.

I got them out ok and got the needles off pretty much ok but the real problem is getting the needles back on in the right place, so they read the right values.

I bought an OBD gauge that can give you rpm and speed, with cruise control it's fairly simple, just need to
Log fuel and of course actual speedo speed.

Have paid for my clocks, temp sensor and indicator stalk now, thought someone was going to snipe me at the last minute on the clocks lol I'll have to get the needless off if i want the white dials won't i? Unless they slip over?
Also looking at the dash mounted focus 3 gauges, only thing is that if they are Visteon unit do the actual gauges wire up like standard ones? Will put them in the right slot on my taco dash.

Can i get white faces for them?

All I'm interested in is oil pressure/temperature boost and volts really.

If you point all the needles in the same direction, pull the centre caps off, then the dial facia slips out, just.

Tidy, although if I'm too install the focus 3 gauges I'm going to have to take the needless of and replace them with the focus ones.
That will probably bring with it a host of problems but will see.

Get one of those OBD readers that sync with your android device, then go for a run down the motorway and note what the speedo reads at a particular rpm/gear. I found the rev counter reads exact to the OBD, but the speedo reads over by about 8%. Once you've got this data you can always recover the references. Tbh I think the dials go back to rest position each time you turn the ignition off, but I just wanted to be sure.

I spoke to Lockwood a while back, they said these dials won't a 2007 clock set.

Heres the e-mail reply.

Hi,

Thank you for the photo.

Unfortunately although the dial will fit perfectly it is not the correct one for you model.

The speed calibrations are slightly different and if it were fitted you would be travelling slightly faster than the speedo needle indicated and the cameras would no doubt get you.

Kind Regards

Clive

Lol makes no sense to me, the speedo goes to 130 the same, what is the difference between that and the later speedo? It's possible that Ford changed the markings/speedo rate? I have the means to get an accurate speedo reading from obd so if it's just the starting point of the needle it'd not a problem, frankly they have done the hard work with the plastic, surely all they have to do is modify the print on it?
Bet there's more early mk7 users willing to buy them than later ones?

IIRC removed clocks, remove clock perspex front, remove needles, remove black faceplate, remove original black dials, then refit everything. My fitting was simple apart from the needles, which I had to remove and refit the speedo twice, that may be what's sent my speedo funny recently. I referenced my speed with my sat-nav on a flat length of dual carriageway and it seemed to work ok. I was just lucky with the other dials I reckon.

The needles don't always fall to zero when ignition off if you don't set then correctly. The fall to the lowest travel of the needle pin. I had trouble with this unless I'm missing a trick.

I agree with what has been said about getting proper reference on dial positions before you start, such as what revs/speed in what gear.

Also what's an OBD guage?

You can get electronic gauges that plug directly into the OBD port, some are all in one complete with screen, some are just senders that you can sync your iPhone or android to.

How about a dot of felt to pen on the black plastic but of the clock set?
Obd gauge is a lcd display you can plug into the diagnostic port and it gives you real time display of revs etc i think.
