Mine is 1 of 4 nearly new injectors i bought off eBay when i bought the van (paid 200) for them but didn't use them for a few months iirc and when i did fit them and program them in the van wouldn't even fire forever and eventually started but was missing and backfiring like a petrol engine with a spark plug removed  i had to keep the throttle down or it cutout :?

I think some knob has put new ends on fooked injectors
So project learn something is underway 8)
Need some crows feet now tho.

I'm replacing my n/s bearing, pads, disks now tho.

Taken the nozzle off of what appears to be a nackered injector with a new nozzle.

Injector part number 6C1Q-9K546-AC
Nozzle number DLLA153P884

Injector nozzle looked as clean as your but when unscrewed the diesel still inside was filthy, like well used engine oil.

There is qr code on the nozzle as well but I can't get a good picture of it to decode.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

Denso injectors 6C1Q-9K546-BB (F1379395) has been changed to 6C1Q-9K546-BC (F1495919)

& fits 2.2 115ps, 130ps & 140ps - 2.4 135/140ps & 140ps HPCR

o i cant wait to but the detail of the 2.2 and the 2.4 piston sizes up

as for some reason people think the combustion bowl are all the same

For the 2.4 bare bottom block with crank with all bearings, pistons & rods Ford has 4 to choose from.
e.g 115ps is different part number to 140ps. Obviously there's a difference in internals like pistons etc
Similar to 2.2 where there's 3 blocks.

Here you are chaps,

'Low Flow' injectors have DLLA153P884 Nozzles, these are 7 x 0.12 x 153
'High Flow' injectors have DLLA153P885 Nozzles, these are 7 x 0.15 x 153

The first figure is the 'number of holes' in the Nozzle.
The second figure is the diameter of the holes in the Nozzle.
The third figure is the 'spray angle', this is the angle measured at the tip of the 'cone'.

So, we have established that the 'High Flow' injectors are fitted with Nozzles having a larger 'flow capacity', most likely these could be fitted to the 'Low Flow' injectors as an 'upgrade'.

These are the only two Nozzles in my listing that have 153 angles, so if you were looking to increase fuel delivery even further you would have to select a Nozzle with a different 'spray angle'.
Best to select ones with a 'tighter' angle , perhaps some 8 x 0.21 x 152's.

Interestingly, an angle of only 150 degrees is used in the Mk6 Tddi engines.

Those angles of 153 are they across the mk7 range ie. From 75 to 140?

I've bought a denso socket today that should help me remove the rest of the internals so i can have a look :-)

I need to buy or make a device that can help me measure the injected quantity per stroke.
I need to find out if the cfr is the same as the vmm using ids to measure fuel flow.
That also begs the question, if and how does the van measure/know how much fuel is going to each cylinder :?: :?
In theory if it does then that may be a basis to start being able to record results.

Also these injectors are mechanical bar the solenoid which can be fairly reliably tested, so it shouldn't be fantasy to think that we can get to a point of 'adequate servicing'

Given that there should be reasonable scope for contaminants sub 2 microns in the daily running of them.

I can only see the injector getting blocked with crap, or the nozzle getting blocked or the nozzle pin wearing out that would be the main cause of over fueling and leaking back (that is provided that there is no major wear on the command pin components etc.
Still learning tho :o

piston sizes

2.2 85 ps

combustion bowl width is 46 mm across (need to see how many mls it holds)
the lengh is 70mm

the width is 86mm

gudgin pin 30 mm thick

2.4 100ps

combustion bowl 49 mm across (need to see how many mls it holds
length is 81 mm

width is 89 mm

gudgin pin 30mm

overall appearance you can see the difference in the 2 pictures to follow

Karl you need to get sizes between 2.2 85 and 2.2 115/140
2.2 and 2.4 will be different sizes.

Hi Looty
If Paul2012's injector info is correct, (I am sure that it will be), then there are only those two different Nozzles used in the Denso Injectors, both having a 153 degree 'spray angle'.
What this means is that swapping Injectors between 'low flow' and 'high flow', is unlikely to have any detrimental effect as all the different combustion bowl dimensions will be designed to accept 153 degree Nozzles.

Since both Injectors are fitted with Nozzles having the same 'spray angle' then the only reason for differences in combustion bowl dimensions between engines of different output would be differences in the amount of 'injection advance' employed in the fueling map.
