If you know the answer to someone's question then that's great share and help that's what it's all about.metalworker0 wrote:if i know the answer then i say so .. my posts often contain --"i think" , "could be" , "may be" "possibly" "not sure", "i say others will answer" (often they don't) and that's what remote diagnostics is about, as you cant be there at the side of them, i almost always say if i'm not sure, if i don't know and its something to go on until someone like you comes along with a sometimes a more complete answer, non of my diagnostics sends them out buying stuff willy nilly, i warn about this all the time. diagnostics is guess work and some posts here, they come here asking questions when garages have failed with the guess work time after time. never getting it right, often costing them thousands. i try to help as best as i can .

Collecting and collating fault information and solutions is nothing new, JD had a system we were using in the 90s for the exact purpose of sharing across the global brand.metalworker0 wrote:I only quote AI .. when it's saying what i wanted to say and i agree with what it says .. and it saves me a lot of typing... think i use this probably in less than 10 percent of my answers.
One day, that's all we will have when forums are gone .
Now most of the very knowledgeable techs on youtube rely on a troubleshooting flow charts to make diagnoses with electronic systems and mechanical systems, they rely on software "Alldata" to find a solution to a problem, 1000's of mechs contribute to this alldata system with problems and their solutions.
It gives data on all faults saying; what percentages the cures were, the tech picks the highest percentage answer .. and it's usually the right solution.
.. That's the way it's going!
As regards answering posts, understand, ive never said anything about some of your less than satisfactory posts. do you want me to errmmm, mention it when you make one?

If valve is under vacuum when running, disconnect hose and plug it to hold vacuum to ensure brakes still work.

If you unplug the valve at the bulkhead so it's not being affected.Jp71 wrote:Airthies wrote:

Was just rereading this, can you expand on the "checking the brakes bit" you mean the van brakes or something else?

Yes, runs clear after flushingmetalworker0 wrote:If non of the above .. is the matrix blocked? - have you tried taking the pipes off and flushing both ways...
metalworker0 wrote: Has someone done a EGR cooler bypass and mixed up the pipes,
Has someone done an oil cooler bypass and mixed up the pipes,
Has someone bought the wrong thermostat housing for it, some have an extended thermostat inside (diverter) that covers up certain pipe passageways .. is meant for only the layout it came from. and its not unknown for the diverter bit of the thermostat to break and fall off.

metalworker0 wrote:You've just proved the actuator flap seems to work when the motor is taken off ........... you could boroscope it inside to see if the door connecting mechanism hasn't broken off inside.
You say the valve that controls the hot water going through the matrix works.
