without taking into account that the mk6mk7 COMFORT and perfOrmance levels against the Mk4MK5.
the truth is the older mk4mk5 break down more regular than the Mk6/MK7 but the fact that they can be fixed by almost anyone and easily, it doesn't seem as bad as the MK6Mk7 that are infact more reliable, but if they do have slight problems, alot of people can't and dont know how to fix them making it more of a ball ache, making mountains out of mole hills.
theres a lot of Mk6Mk7s that end up with a shopping list of parts fitted cos of bad diagnosisor gearboxs fitted for the fAULT OF A Gear linkage, glowplugs fitted ending in heads been removed when they have stating problems because of something else
heade gaskets replaced when theres an EGR cooler leaking or oilcooler failed

etc etc....and the greatly miss understood TDCI MK6's for having everything replaced on them cos of a faulty injector,
