Thanks, so looks like I will need the 2 wires, 'incodes', and 2 keys. (Not sure if we have a second key or not, better check on that!)
Never heard of 'incodes'. Will have to look into this too thanks

Basically when installing a module or programming keys on older fords you were given a code that you put into a calculator which returned a code that you put into ids (ford computer) or other computer. It was a security exchange so that ford dealers could gain access to the pats system. An attempt to stop thieves. We got free calculators online but a year or 2 ago ford migrated from offline servers to online and now the only access it for ford and garages that pay a subscription.

Ironically there are devices available that can brute force your mk7 modules offline and new keys

But you can if you're lucky find calculators but i could only find ones that are paid for apps, only a few £ mind.

I recently replaced a pcm on my van with ids.(my preferred method)

Forscan out used to do it automatically,I think they build in a direct calculator method in the software so you may not even have been aware of it. I tried recently with no luck which drew me to the conclusion that along with ford going only only subs it closed the door to forscan. That said, I don't know much about the inner workings of forscan since I still have use of my ids, I guess I will have to get onboard with forscan at some point. But tbh mk7 and the learns etc is the main reason I bother. Later vans aren't required so much.

Thanks Loot. Sounds like I am a bit late in the game and won't easily be able to set up cruise control after all. I do have full Forscan but wouldn't know where to find a code calculator or what to even search for to find one. I don't mind paying a few quid, aftermarket cruise will be several hundred squid. May have to just knock the idea on the head, but I know the next long drive I have to do, I'll want it all over again. These damn draconian speed limits/revenue cameras drive me nuts and I rely on Cruise to avoid any costly creeps over the limit.

You can Google cruise activation. Vantuner in ruislip activates it,but it's old hat now most remap or diagnostics guys can do it. I'm in North Wales but that's a fair road trip for you I think.

That calc works, it may be a few quid but you get 20 codes. Please check though as it may have been updated.

Get the orange wires fitted etc and steering wheel then it is just a case of getting it activated.

Thanks

"You can Google cruise activation" - I have done it before, I know how to do it in Forscan.

The problem is fitting the new BCM, I'm assuming physically it's easy enough to do, but electronically with these codes etc, that bit I am far from sure I can do

To physically fit the bcm out tasks 2 mins . But you need to perform a module initialization which pairs it to the pcm via incodes exchange. And it allows your keys to work. Then you'll need to restore asbuilt on the bcm and then configure it. From memory.

Finally read all 28 pages! I just got my controls installed ( I bought from a Chinese page ) , I have a C BCM, and I found my squib came prewired . Everything turned out great on the hardware side.
I'll try the software side as soon as I have time.
Thank you all for the amazing information!

I´d reccomend reading it all. but the most useful info was a t the beginning.
Then is more about repeating the same recurrent question about which BCM is working or what wheel should people buy.
And couple last pages have some updated info as the post is quite old, and some changes have happened along the way.
I´ve still not activated it as I had some other troubles with the door ajar sensors and I´m also insulating the van right now

Originally the thread was with pics and complete.. Then photobucket decided to charge us for hosting photos on their site.

So naturally the whole thread got royally f**ed up. And I couldn't find the will to live to redo it.

So it is what it is.

Hopefully the few mk7s that are still being worked on might benefit from any useful info still held in this thread. If not then apologies have a nice day

Loot! I’ve read this hole thread twice and I’m still abit stuck, I have everything required but the thing that’s confusing me is that I have two connectors on the new steering wheel (transit) do I need to move the red and grey wires from the bottom plug into pins 2&3 in the other connector that has the horn and grounds? It’s all getting abit confusing with reading a decade old thread lol

Usually you remove the non cruise wheel and connector from the van and then install the with cruise steering wheel and connector. I can't think why you'd have 2 actual connectors. The squib looks like there's 2 connectors but the bottom 1 is dead with no pins and that's the same as all and cmax.

There's only 2 wires that goes to both cruise buttons and is added to your van. So use a single connector loom and add the 2 wires that you need for the buttons. I think that you are looking at the old wires and new wires together somehow as I've never seen double. Unless it's a kuga or something.let us know. :P

Hi mate, I couldn’t find any posts for my case specifically and got fed up so removed the cruise wires from the connector and pinned them into pins 2&3 on the other connector and it works a treat now. Mystical creatures these transits haha

Result mate. It's only the 2 wires for cruise anyway. Some vans have different looms depending on added features like heated screen/mirrors or tailgate etc and level of modules installed. Some need the 2 wires all the way back to the bcm, but it's good that you now have it working, result 8)
